Two GOP Senators are demanding answers after 59 out of 96 phones assigned to Special Counsel Robert Mueller's team appear to have gone missing following their ill-fated investigation into Russian collusion.
Senators Ron Johnson (WI) and Chuck Grassley (IA) fired off a Wednesday letter to the Justice Department after discovering that the DOJ "could not locate 59 of the 96 phones used by Special Counsel Robert Mueller's team," according to a press release on Grassley's website.
"Further, the Justice Department failed to review over twenty phones for federal record preservation," the statement continues.

The investigation is over. No indictments were issued against Trump, and the one indictment against a Russian company that actually started to go to trial? The DOJ withdrew its case.
The reason why there will be NO TRIALS is because court-worthy evidence IS LACKING.
Crowdstrike - the firm that investigated the DNC servers - testified to Congress three+ years ago that there was NO EVIDENCE that ANYONE "hacked" the DNC servers. (M$M didn't tell you about that one, did they?)
The Steele "dossier" allegations couldn't be verified with anything ... no plane rides, no hotel bookings... nothing. It was all a crock of shit paid for by the Hillary campaign. For two months after the 2020 presidential election, Donald Trump fought to invalidate and overturn the results. When election administrators and judges refused to play ball, he urged his most loyal followers to march on Congress, to prevent final certification of the electoral vote. “We fight like hell. And if you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore,” he told a crowd of thousands on Jan. 6.
“We’re going to the Capitol,” Trump said, and though he did not, many of his supporters did.
Trump was impeached for his leading role in the insurrection, but not convicted. The stain of that second impeachment notwithstanding, he left office without sanction. He lives in freedom, cushioned by continued wealth and influence. He still has the Republican Party in his thrall, and within that party, the only orthodoxy that matters is whether you also want to “stop the steal.” After a brief and uncharacteristic silence on this point, Trump now hails the Jan. 6 insurrectionists as heroes.
“These were peaceful people. These were great people,” he said during a recent interview on Fox News, in which he also embraced the MAGA martyrdom of Ashli Babbitt, who was killed inside the Capitol.
We are not the only democracy to have had a corrupt, would-be authoritarian in high office. But we have had a hard time holding that person minimally accountable, much less keeping him out of contention for future office, which would have been accomplished had he been removed from the White House.
As it stands, Trump has all but announced his plan to run for president in 2024, and Republican Party activists are eager to give him the nomination.
Who is to blame for the former president’s return to prominence? Is it the Democratic leaders who have been content to leave him to his own devices, or is it the Republican ones who have surrendered to his delusions and those of his most devoted fans?
Neither group is blameless, but the problem goes beyond our political elites, however fearful, timid or craven they happen to be. This isn’t the first time the United States has struggled to hold insurrectionists accountable for their actions.

Lee, the commander of the Army of Northern Virginia, died a free man as well. Nor was this trio an exception. Other, less prominent Confederates were also able to escape any real punishment.

It took 10 months before the Doctor's license was suspended and 4 years before he went to prison until 2045. Trump's case will be much harder than the Doctor's case to get Trump in jail, since Trump didn't write an email boasting that he was "...ready to leave the love and kindness and goodness and patience that I mix with everything else that I am and become a cold blooded killer."
According to his lawyers, Dr. Duntsch had not realized how poorly he had performed as a surgeon (think how poorly Trump performed as President) until he heard the prosecution experts tell the jury about his many blunders on the operating table. Dr. Duntsch's defense blamed their client's actions on poor training and lack of oversight by the hospitals. (Trump blames the Democrats.)
Unlike the Doctor and his lawyers, neither Trump nor his lawyers will ever admit wrongdoing about his taxes or anything else. The way the American system works, it is difficult to convict when the defendant and his highly paid lawyers stridently, angrily!, insists he is innocent, which Trump and his lawyers will absolutely do in court, going all the way to the Supreme Court. Poor Americans get convicted because their court appointed lawyers act as though the client is guilty. Rich Americans don't use lawyers who already conceded defeat which is why rich Americans don't get convicted often.
