Russia Says U.S., Others Are Lying That Military Was Involved in Killing African Citizens
Russia accused the United States, Britain and France of lying about the Russian military being involved in the killing of civilians in the Central African Republic on Monday.
At a U.N. Security Council meeting last week, the three countries accused Russian military contractors of killing civilians and looting homes during the conflict in CAR earlier this year. A U.N. Security Council report was cited on Sunday by the New York Times with the same accusations.

Nuclear triad refers to land-, sea-, and air-based nuclear weapons. Of the three, land-based are considered the most vulnerable because they can be targeted (unless on mobile platforms). This article refers to replacing the Minuteman land- based missiles currently in 400 silos across the USA.

Royal Navy offshore patrol vessel HMS Trent entered the Black Sea on Sunday as part of its Mediterranean Sea deployment which started in April this year.
Trent transited the Bosphorus Strait for a port visit to the Ukrainian port city Odessa, and can stay in the Black Sea for a maximum 21 days, as stipulated by the Montreux Convention.
As soon as the OPV entered the region, Russian news reports said Russia had dispatched Black Sea Fleet naval assets to monitor the Royal Navy ship. Earlier this month, a French patrol ship was also tracked by the Russian military in the Black Sea.

“The Black Sea Fleet is doing a number of things to monitor the actions of ships from NATO and other countries taking part in Sea Breeze 2021,” the National Defence Management Centre said in a statement.
Russia had called for the military exercises, which have taken place 21 times since 1997, to be cancelled and the Russian defence ministry has said it will react if necessary to ensure national security.
Sea Breeze 2021, which began on Monday, will last two weeks and involve about 5,000 military personnel from NATO member states and other allies of the transatlantic security alliance.
The United States Marine Corps will take part, as will about 30 US ships and 40 aircraft, including the missile destroyer USS Ross.
Ukrainian navy commander Oleksiy Neizhpapa said during an opening ceremony in the Ukrainian port city of Odessa that the exercises would send a “powerful message to maintain stability and peace in our region.”
Moscow considers Crimea Russian territory, but the peninsula is internationally recognised as part of Ukraine which wants it back.
