When the GOP blowhards have fallen to the liberal side, they are liberal. Those who vote as conservatives are not on the liberal side of the spectrum. Once JFK was effectively conservative, but the Dems have left that time far behind. The same Ford/Dole/McCain/Romney liberals would be glad to never heard again of Reagan conservatives, and thus they will continue to lose.
