Is it too late to sign up for dental insurance?
I think the CT scan is a good idea, so I hope you have it done: if it turns out of be an ongoing problem then it needs to be treated, and if not then you can sigh a sigh of relief and continue to do your best to live a healthy life.

That diagnosis would actually explain some other issues I've had for a few years, but there is zero history of it in my family and I just got my most recent eye exam back in November and they told me I didn't have it. I don't know if that's a hundred percent when the eye doctor says it, but supposedly the eye doctors are the ones who find it early.
I'm actually more concerned of finding out I have something worse. My plan was never to see a doctor for the rest of my life and just hope for the best now that I'm living healthy. Can't very well do that if it means I'm going to be unable to talk in public and have to eat baby food for the rest of my life once these teeth really start falling out.

Eye doctors check for diabetes up here too. Yes, they can find it in your eyes as I said it can affect your eyes.
You're right to be worried. But if it is something important that can be dealt with better that you know. Few people get away with out a doctor's visit.

If you mean through work, I can't because that's only for full timers. Part timers don't get health insurance. I know there are dental plans out there that you can sign up for independently, but they only cover a max of a few grand, which wouldn't help me at all. Even if I was able to get coverage through work it would be the same story.
No matter what happens in my mouth, insurance companies view dental work as "cosmetic". Even if I'm officially told when it's all said and done that I cannot get dentures because the bone loss is too severe, there will be no assistance in paying for it.
If it comes to that point, I think you could expect to see me on the news. This literally will be the hill I choose to die on, and I will bring awareness to the country about how wrong that all is.
Short of getting dentures, I will not pay for anything to be done, and it will kill me. I think it would be a shame not to at least make that mean something for other people who have to go through this and are afraid to die so they'll go into lifelong debt to do whatever it takes.
EDITED TO ADD: Upon re-reading that, I realized that it could be perceived as a bit threatening. I just want to clear that up and say that I have no intention of "making the news" by hurting anybody over this.
Maybe I'll start a YouTube channel and just show the world the state of my teeth and bring awareness to the fact that health issues as severe as this are evaded by insurance companies simply because they're taking place in your mouth, even though the other potential health risks by letting this go are extreme.
I'll chronicle my own slow death and the decay of the quality of my life for everybody to see, just to make a point.
I'm ready to meet my maker.... or find out there isn't one.

SIX, how do you feel about a three-month round of antibiotics, or a year of high-dose vitamin D and calcium? ? I guess what I'm saying is ... a bone infection or bone thinning is not a "cosmetic" problem, it's a medical one. Even if you can't get dentures or implants, if there's something going on with your bones that's only going to get worse and worse, you might want to think about medical treatment.
I'm sorry to say that the last three people who worked for me all had terrible/ missing teeth, and nobody (certainly not "society") gave a shit. I don't know about where you live, but here you'd be just one of a million. Literally.

I seriously doubt that. If I'm being told that it's going to be impossible to put me into dentures because of the extreme amount of bone loss it would be more like one in a million than one of a million.
My bones are fine. I do an extreme amount of work, and I'm always banging things on this and that, and even sometimes running my foot over with a pallet jack.
I'm not paying for any work, so if that is the case then I'm on my way to sipping my food through a straw and talking without any teeth. I will be looking for options for assisted suicide at that point, just so there's no mess to clean up.

One of the people I work with had a chronic bone infection for years in his upper jaw that caused a lot of bone loss. It was working its way into his maxillary sinus, from there the next stop would have been his eye socket.
Anyway, I don't know if you're eligible for Medicare, or if you have a philosophical objection to it. But a bone infection in your jaw might be covered. https://www.cms.gov/Medicare/Coverage/MedicareDentalCoverage/index.htm

Thanks for the link. My state doesn't do medicare for people at my income level, although they do have a program that's considered somewhat of an extention of it for low income earners who aren't medicare eligible.
Assuming that this would be the same thing, I suppose I would just have to wait until it got serious enough that I would be hospitalized for it according to that link.
Yay.
I'll do some research and see if that's possible. I'll just have to let it get to the point that it's nearly killing me and then I can get some work done that would cost taxpayers infinitely more than taking care of the problem now.
Sounds about as reasonable as anything else our government does from day to day.
