The Bester Fanfic Challenge

Hey people. I rewatched 'Out of Gas' last night and got thinking about the character of Bester. I don't know why, but he's one character I'd like to know more about. To that end, I'm proposing the following challenge to all of you talented Firefly fic writers out there:
Write a story about/featuring Bester

The only requirement is that the story(stories) feature Bester in a major/semi-major role. Everything else is up to you guys.
