No tattoos, but I know bosses will frown upon them if they are visible and you deal with customers, or represent the company to investors, or are going to be seen in anyway shape or form. Not saying if it is right or wrong only that it is. To them it is the same thing as not speaking properly or having your pants hanging down around your ass. I'm not talking about McDonalds here.

I'll bet he did but I don't know. I just happened to read a post here and then saw that in the news, so I used it as an example. I'm sure companies are going to have pro's do searches on future employees to see what shows up.

Would you want to be forever explaining to the company's private eye and other strangers your tattoo? Over and over again you will be coldly and cynically asked, "What's it mean?" "Because I love Wash" is not enough explanation since you'll then be asked, "Who is Wash?" followed by "What was Firefly?" Short questions that need long answers.

Unless there is a new dawning for an old TV show and Firefly gets a much higher profile then everybody will know "I am a leaf on the wind." Probably can't happen, so wordless & symbol-less tattoos are better than tattoos that need explanations.

I don't have any tats and am glad. No I would not like to answer questions about anything all the time. I did have my browncoats shirt on twice last month and ran into fans who picked up on it right away. That was cool.

Me either. I view the human body itself a work of art, and to put ink to it, imo, would be like taking a Sharpie™ pen to Venus De Milo or Michelangelo's David.

Not that there's anything wrong w/ a fine lookin' tatt...

ETA - As for swim suits, I'd just say be honest w/ yourself, and go with what feels comfortable. If you're not Jessica Alba or a SI model, don't think you can put on a suit they wear and get the same effect at the beach, pool, what ever. Same goes for dudes. Unless you're Michael Phelps, there's no need to wear anything less than trunks.

To me, tattoos are, always have been, a form of self-mutilation.
My body isn't a wall to hang a picture; & I like my pictures to be changeable.

Do I think people who get tattoos should get permission from their shrink?
Of course not!! Who knows how crazy the shrink is?

Do I think tattoos should be against the law? No -- but
oughta be against the law to tattoo someone who's under the influence.

I just feel that anyone who's 9-years-old or so should have better sense.

Bah, ink doesn't bother me - and doesn't bother all employers either, there's one corporate drone I know who's actually fairly respected in his office despite being somewhat junior to the dinosaurs he works with, and while he does make the concession of taking his nose stud out and wearing long sleeves, nobody really seems to care overmuch, not even the clients.

Of course, in MY line of work, a little bit of ink actually IMPROVES ones work-cred, but then security is like that - I never got any tats cause I was always concerned the damage I tend to soak up would ruin them and make em look stupid, that and the whole concept repels me personally, as does the notion of punching ornaments through my flesh.

Oh, and bathing suits... one of Counts female friends (he does retro-silent movie stuff and thus has lots of vintage stuff to wear) actually does the whole old-school swimming suit, and don't ya know, I find it quite attractive in a demure sorta way.
I think showing too much skin ruins the mystery that makes eroticism work.
