I actually looked online for an extended version of the recording (which was hard to find) and I got to say... the psychological details are riveting.
What I find most impressive is Sterling's GF... she is apparently not only an archivist but also something of a psychologist. She shows a remarkable amount of control and detachment, given that both her job and her relationship are on the line.
Sterling? Not so much. He sounds like a demented (I mean that in a clincal sense. Heck, if you need somebody recording what you say....) privileged old racist whitey who is used to getting his way all of the time.
AFA the original point... that racism is dead, according to the reichwing... anyone except a braindead would realize that racism is NOT dead. All they have to do is monitor and compare their own reactions when dealing with whites versus blacks, and realize that their assumptions are not the same. Racism is still several generations from being eliminated, and the only people who argue the point are idiots.

I see our local reich-wing is all a flutter about how racists should be allowed their rants - but the people who fined and banned Sterling should have NO freedom to respond. So - racists can rant - according to them - and everyone else has to sit down and shut up. Because THAT'S FREEDOM!

Housing discrimination is hard to detect, hard to prove, and hard to prosecute. There was no recording of Sterling giving orders to discriminate.
The problem with Donald Sterling in 2014 isn't that he is a racist but that he became an oafish racist. This makes some white people feel bad.
