The first actor not from the original cast of Fox's cancelled FIREFLY TV series has been revealed for SERENITY, the Universal movie set to start filming tomorrow. Chiwetel Ejiofor will play a character called The Operative, described as being an assassin that speaks in a eloquent fashion. Ejiofor was last seen in LOVE ACTUALLY.

In today's Hollywood Reporter news story about Ejiofor, the trade magazine also described the plot for SERENITY: Captain Reynolds and his crew are caught between a "military force and cannibalistic savages" after they pick up two passengers. The military force is probably the Alliance while the other group is no doubt the Reavers, first introduced in the TV series.

I'm sure the Operative will turn out to be a completely different sort of character, but Jubel Early was also quite eloquent. Sure, he was demented, but he got his points across and spoke clearly...

Wouldn't it just be all kinds of interesting if The Operative turned out to be somehow related to the late Jubal Early. Maybe after Serenity for the bounty and because it's all personal like.
