They were given permission, but they deviated from the permitted route and got too close.
They weren't being fired upon. They were given a warning shot. They backed way. A "sorry not sorry" was given and the heads of the countries where the diplomats were from were all called.
That's called a secure border. I could understand the confusion by some since hardly anybody living in a prominently white country outside of Israel has had wide open borders for at least 2 decades.
We haven't been letting many at all in for months now ourselves, but even though the amount trying has slowed way down, it's still not zero,.
All it would take is shooting a few of them down or at least moving up to a rubber bullet for anyone coming within 1,000 feet of the border with a warning that we're switching to Live Ammo on July 4th, and that number would fall to zero.
