The article says the film has little steam left but there was a theory/rumor out there that an extended cut might get released in theaters at the end of the summer. Avatar got a rerelease for something like 8 minutes of new footage. The theory/rumor said Avengers has 30 minutes or so of footage that was cut.

I know I'd go again to see 30 extra minutes.

I'm not sure if it is here, but there's a link around somewhere to an interview with Joss who said he had no idea who got the idea the film would be re-released. While there is always extra footage, he said he would always endeavor for the theatrical release to be the "director's cut."

That being said, if it does get an extended release I'll be there.
