I wanted to revise my post a bit:

Mal: Zoe! Would you please explain to your husband that lighting the cattle herd emissions on fire is is not permitted no matter how hi-larious he might think it is?

River: A bovine can be drained of methane in 8.6 seconds given adequate vacuum systems.

Wash: Relax, guys. Open space is an adequate vacuum system.

Jayne: Huh. It better be. 'Cause Vera and I are going to have a word with you if I die from an exploding cow fart...

This moment reaffirmed the importance of maintaining the integrity of the primary buffer panel. The fact that Jayne was reentering the cargo bay from EVA ops at that very same moment was just, as they say, "a bonus".
