Can't wait to see this tonight. 13 whole episodes this season. I'll post my thoughts on the season opener in a few hours.

I thought it wuz good. A wee bit uneventful, but thats better than if they tryd to make it nonstop action, which usually meanz the story iz weak.

I thought the episode was really great. Problem I had was with the commercials.
HOLY SHIT!!!
It was a 90 minute episode, but I don't think anyone that has seen it would argue that it was a 50/50 split. 45 minutes of commercials, 45 minutes of the show.
For a show that thrives on suspense, that many commercials is detrimental.
I'll give the next episode a shot, but I may just have to wait until the dvd set is released to enjoy it uninterrupted.

What was unusual with the episode was that the church had electricity to run the outside loudspeaker. (It was not solar energy. The prop had no solar collector.) I'm impressed with the reliable service at Zombie Power & Light. The power plant operators are all dead and yet they still come into work to keep the steam turbines generating.

I have this DVRed and will watch it tonight in spite of what I thought of season 1 I didn't want to post anything back then because I had only negative thoughts...
I came to this story by way of the graphic novels, which I thought were fantastic and only marred by being a bit gratuitous. Still, great stories and twists, and great new characters.
Sadly, the tv producers seemed to look at the g-novel only as a starting point (Game of Thrones on the other hand was a prime example of why you follow a novel's story and the success in story telling you can have when you do so).
I'm afraid I found the casting pretty weak as well in many cases. And the directing... subpar. Maybe season 2 will make a rebound artistically.

What I'm wondering is which was the sign from god, the Deer in the forest or the bullet in the Kid. He asked for a sign, but it wasn't what he'd hoped for. It kind of seems like god is trying to tell them that they were supposed die in the plague and he's pissed that some survived, or maybe there is no god and bad stuff just happens.

Don't bother deciding the meaning because when Walking Dead gets religion, it gets brain-damaged. I'll vouch for the Walking Dead g-novel - it's the show that's borderline offensive. 2 people, one with binoculars, the other on top of a winnebago, both with nothing to block their view and yet some how they let 1,000 shuffling zombies *sneak* up on them?!?

"Stay put!" That's their zombie defense plan???

"Shane, leave me and my son alone!" "Shane? Where are you going?"

How long was the scene where they open up a zombie to inspect his stomach contents and there was no pay off, just isn't gore funny?

Some pretty bad southern accents, and I'm sorry to say too many actors with only modest screen presence... it's the same disappointment as the first season, wha.

You know that the comic's creator/writer is one of those producers, right?

Anyway, Im kinda glad they're not sticking too closely to the comic. I already know how that story goes. But I guess I can understand being bothered by it not being a direct adaptation. It's just fine by me, though.
