Two other great stories from Sunday's panel for you Chris :
Dirk was asked how his personality was different from his character on the show. He answered that he came to the show with no personality. After reading the scipt he decided he wanted to be just like Starbuck, so he became Starbuck in real life, raised hell and chased the ladies. It was very funny and a bit tongue in cheek.
Anne was asked about her role as Commander Kane's (Lloyd Bridges) daughter. She said it was quite easy for her since they already knew each other. Lloyd had starred in Seahunt & her mom of course had been on Lassie and they were all friends. Anne used to play with Lloyd's kids Jeff and Beau. She said it was like a family reunion for her.

I was not planning on going back to Orlando for this due to the fact I spent a small fortune at Megacon, and didn't know the guest list until this week. Now, how can I pass up a chance to meet those two gals? Im a goin'. Stashing a $20 here and there, skip a few lunches, whatever it takes to get some travellin' money together. Would love to bump into you there. It'd be a hoot for sure.

I was at a con in NY once where me & a couple of friends sat at a hotel bar with James Doohan, man was he funny! Even funnier after he'd tipped a couple. He was good-naturedly goofing on warp cores & treknobabble in general.

I cannot begin to describe how much I hope this never happens. Larson is a hack writer, and a revival of the original BSG just makes me cringe.
The casting problems are the biggest issue!
Star Trek was revived in a movie ten years after the series was cancelled. All of the cast was still around, and young enough to get away with playing the same roles. Shatner was in his 40s instead of his 30s. Big deal. By the sixth movie, with most of the cast in their 60s it was starting to get embarrassing. The average age of the surviving BSG cast is somewhere in their 60s! Yikes!
Firefly was revived in a movie two short years after the series was cancelled. Other than Jewel looking slimmer, the cast didn't change!
Battlestar was cancelled 30 years ago!!! Greene is dead. The rest of the original cast is in their 60's or older, and frankly, Hatch is the only one that doesn't look his age. I saw Dirk two years ago at a convention, and he looks slightly better than Mickey Rourke these days! Yes, I know Benedict is a cancer survivor.....congrats to him about that, but he still looks very rough. The girls from the cast all are "cougars" to be sure, but they still look their age.
The original Battlestar's time has come and gone. It's been replaced by a new version that is more timely and far more intelligent. Leave the old campy version in the 70's. Can you really accept a one dimensional Baltar again, after seeing James Callis play Gaius? Can you really accept a hack story where right after 98% of your fellow humans are slaughtered, everyone is dancing and partying on a casino planet? Does anyone ever need to see a robot dagget ever again? Que the monkey in the funny suit!
Besides, now I can't Imagine a guy playing Starbuck anymore. Katee Sackhoff took it and made it hers! She owns that role now! Dirk who? I.M.H.O.
I'd given some thought to movin' off the edge -- not an ideal location -- thinkin' a place in the middle.

I understand, but despite some fans dismissal of the new one, a recast BSG has already happened. Another one, even if it is closer to the original in tone, seems "TOO SOON"! The last "recast" BSG hasn't even ended it's run yet, and nows there's a prequel in the works.
If you want a classic looking BSG, with a new cast, I suggest you do what some Trek fans have done and make your own fan series. Like "Star Trek: New Voyages" (now "Phase II"), or "Starship Exeter", where they use original looking sets, props and costumes, and original series style ships.
I'd given some thought to movin' off the edge -- not an ideal location -- thinkin' a place in the middle.
