Considering the current Blu release looks great, this one should be nothing short of phenomenal.

This should be the year for Blu-Ray to dominate sales. I've seen some ads for players as low as $79, with some major brands of HD-TVs under $300. Best Buy has a 50" Plasma for less than I paid for a 37" LCD a couple of years ago.

Having the first two of those on DVD is nice, and the latter for 90% off wasn't bad neither.

Now, the quality of the catalog releases is what is in question. There are a lot of older films being slapped on Blu with no restoration (just using old Laserdisk transfers) or they just slather them with DNR (digital noise reduction) to make them look sharper - while stripping away all the fine detail in the image.

Proper restoration is what every film deserves with no edge enhancement, or grain removal. After all Blu-Ray is the last stop in a movie medium. A picture that can rival(or duplicate) the actual film source.
