Report from Russia Today opens with a story on Wikileaks, but is mostly about the increased cancer rates in the Iraqi civilian population.

I just don't understand how the use of DU is not a war crime. This is horrifying.

How IS depleted uranium a war crime?
Nuclear weapons aren't a war crime, nor is carpet bombing or precision boming, DU shells fired from an A10 tankbuster aren't exactly as powerful as a HELLFIRE or JDAM munitions.
Also, the thing about depleted uranium shells is that anyone who's actually being shot at with them would be killed by the shooting, hence radiation isn't a problem, plus the half-life isn't exactly long in terms of radioactive materials (for example Pripyat won't be safe for human habitation for another two to six hundred years.)

Also I should note that "alternative questioning" techniques are practiced quite extensively by the enemy, it's no good saying "US Soldiers torture Iraqis" when you consider the fate of any civilian who happens to fall into the hands of AQI or the Mahdi Army, I would note Nick Berg, who was beheaded on Al Jazeera by Musab al Zarqawi.

Fundamentally, DU shells are not a war crime because the Geneva Convention says we can use them, I note you're saying nothing about thermobaric weapons or fuel air explosives which kill people in far more nasty ways than Depleted Uranium. Also you're citing Russia Today as a source... hence I would say that maybe there might be a touch of bias in thier reporting since the Russians do not consider us thier friends, you also cite wikipedia, 'nuff said.

Furthermore, how can you prove that dust didn't cause cancer, since certain compounds that hang around in the air after explosives go off are considered carcinogenic, not to mention all that dust and crap that people would breathe in immediately after a blast, I can't imagine that's good for anyone inhaling it.

So we all travel on the low road, eh?

I submit that you you are evil, CorporateChaos.
And a punk as well.

It would be good to beat some cents into your skull, as well.

I have been called many things.
Evil has been one of them, as has Infidel et al

If all you can do is insult me on a personal level, that just means I'm right in terms of this argument.

I am not Squeaky clean, however nor am I evil. I do not behead people on live TV, nor do I feel the need to blow myself up in a crowd of innocent civilians.

That's not proof that you are not a PUNK, as I claimed.
And in need of a good beating, to get you 'real'.

Okay, kidding off. If I insulted you (and I think I did), sorry.
I just have a problem with being okay with using the tactics (enhanced interrogation) the 'enemy' uses.
Terminate with prejudice, but torture is what 'THEY' do, not US.

It bugs me to the point of nasty sarcasm.

That's right! If THEY are doing it, we should too! But we maintain our moral superiority because we're America Fuck Yeah! We may do the same evil shit, but it doesn't count for us. Because we're the good guys!

Such is the argument of everyone who does evil shit, and the reason why it will never stop.

That is the general thought of America.
But hey, I'm not american so I wouldn't know. You keep your moral highground, I'll stick to doing nasty things to nasty people so that people like you don't have to.

Yep, there's plenty of people who think like this. They tend to end up boarding airplanes with box-cutters tucked in their underwear.
