It just now stuck me....

Would Tolkien's Gandalf partake of dancing ?

One brief shot of Bilbo's party, early in the movie, has Gandalf dancing amongst the Hobbits.


It's well known that PJ took a few liberties from the book, and this would be a very minor one at that, but for some reason, I find it odd.








Bones: "Don't 'rawr' her!"
Booth: "What? she'rawred' me first."

Actually, yes.

And drinking, and pipeweed, and fireworks, he was the Maia equivalent of a juvenille deliquent, or at least in the opinion of stodgy old Saruman, who was himself fond of pipeweed and rather mortified Gandalf might find that out.

The minor quibble that threw me was when he was down in the archives of Gondor, and has an open beverage, on the table... in the freakin archives ?
Big no-no, that, Gandalf should have known better.

One big spill, and there goes the whole Second Age. Even some ale running down his beard could drip, and make some writings a bit blurry.

Also, didn't the archive guide have a big flamey torch? A rogue flaming drop of pitch could "transform" all the parchment in the room to ash.


If we ever get a Firefly game (sp/mm rpg/sim lite), I want a Middle-Earth planet, because I really want to park a Firefly on that anvil thing of Minis Tirith.
