Um, pretty sure the rim will have all of that. When life is hard, you can pretty much expect moonshiners and brewery stills and large amounts of alcohol to help make things tolerable. Even Kaylee came up with a inter-engine fermentation system, that just says how widespread - and necessary - it is.
In fact, simply because WATER wasn't trustworthy in the ol' west, or even in EUROPE in the 1800s, most people drank alcoholic beverages back then instead. That probably wouldn't change out on the rim, unless you like cholera.
I'd go for the rim. I already live in the west. Wouldn't be that much different, and on occasion I seriously consider running for the hills and living like a hobo over having to go to work and dealing with society. Then I go on a week long backpacking trek and feel better about the world. Still. If I could do that, like ALL THE TIME, it would be my freakin' DREAM. In 30 or so years when I finally get to retire, I'm gonna be a sun crisped raisin from being outside so much.

A-Freakin'-men! I'm a Domestic Goddess most of the time but those brief forays into the "normal" world make me run screaming! My latest pet peeve is when you go to a checkout and people are being forced to ask you for your phone number, your zip code, your name, your cousin's childhood nickname, ect.. You don't need to know that just so I can buy glue sticks!!!!
Anyhoo, welcome to the rim, hon! I'm a great neighbor and I'm really good at minding my own business, most of the time... I do like to meet new people in the neighborhood, justa size them, up if nothing else!
