Hello! I've never entered into an on-line discussion thread before, but I've been a fan for a while and have been admiring this website for ages and it's about time for me to dive in. From lurking on the edges and generally checking out this site I can already tell that this is an amazing group of folks here.

Also, please forgive any faux-pas I may make. Beyond common-sense good manners i don't know much about the proper ettiquette.

P.S. Has anyone else thught about what implications the design of Alliance cruisers has in terms of the government that builds them and the function they serve? I have some opinions on this, but they might be utter tripe.

P.P.S. I plan on posting some pics of a painstakingly detailed lego model of Serenity once I get some flattering digital pics.

P.P.P.S. Is it good form to wander over so many subjects in a single post, or does it confuse things?

Nice ta meetcha, Mellowfloyd and all the other newbies.

As a Vancouverite I appreciate your support of Bertuzzi, Mellowfloyd. He's not that kind of player generally, but now will have to live with this, in a very public way, for the rest of his life.

Please help Haken keep this site running by clicking on a google ad on the side of the page!

Welcome Diego! It is a pleasure to greet a new Browncoat. Make yourself at home.

Don't worry about faux-pas. We are pretty laid back here.

I would be very interested in hearing your thoughts on the Alliance cruisers, their function, and theories behind their design. Start a new topic on it and I am sure plenty of people here will check it out & offer up discussion.

I would be very interested in seeing any pics that you might have of a Lego model of Serenity. You can post them in the Blue Sun Room. A how to guide would be great too.

We tend to stray off topic a bit, so don't worry about it. Of course if you want more discussion on something off topic, it is better to post a new thread.

all newbies have to convert at least 5 new browncoats, or else undergo the "hazing ritual" (hint: it involves blue gloves...)

I did the "hazing ritual". Why do you think I do such a good River?

But I do have at least 5 converts.

This is my first day posting to this site, too. I'm not a new fan, watched it from the beginning and bought the DVDs the minute they came out, but I have been actively converting all my friends. So far, I've show the first disk to my best friend and her fiance - they loved it so much they ran out the next day and bought the set. I've given it to two people at work - both new converts, and will be giving it to another older coworker next month (she's on vacation). In two weeks another friend comes to visit for the weekend, and guess what I told her we were going to watch???? Right!

So that makes 4 converts plus 2 more in the next month.....not a rabid fan, but a mite persistent!

Glad to meet you all! Hope to attend some shindigs and gatherings soon!

Howdé again. Fellow newbie. Nothin' to see.

Been watching the show since The Train Job. Still haven't gotten the DVDs, since I'm in gorram Ottawa (i.e., everything not sports- or politics-related just doesn't bother coming here ), but they're on the to-buy list. Y'know, when I have money.

Originally hooked (late) on Buffy, then Angel, by now it's just a general Joss-fanness. And hey, being a beginning writer myself, I can call it continuing education.

Y'know, every board has its own character. This place is nicely casual and laid back. It'll make a nice respite from the nuthouses I usually frequent.

Cybersnark!
Ottawa! Wow, a person from my corner of the world. I'm originally from Renfrew and I never find people on the 'net from around Ottawa. Way cool. Very Shiny. And a fellow writer too. Wow.

I also got into Buffy and Angel late, but the Jossverse has enveloped me and I bask in its fabulousness.

:)

I'm not from Ottawa, personally, but it's a place I wind up going a fair bit. I have family there

As I recall, there's a pretty damn good video/dvd place in Carlingwood mall, near the sears. You might try there for FF dvds if you haven't already ordered them. And if they stock them, tell me would you? I need to get a set somewhere, and I'll be passing through our nation's capital in a few weeks

I'll check it out next time I'm up that way. May not be 'till after Easter though, since I'm car-less and public transpo scares me (bad experiences in Kingston).

Ordering online usually runs into the "no credit card" issue. Me being a student 'n all.
