That's what happens when you

(1) Reduce taxes (Prop 13) without thinking about the consequences.
(2) Require a supermajority to pass the budget. (Kinda like the Federal Senate today.)
(3) Term-limit legislators just about the time they figure out how to get anything done.
(4) Encourage people to think that they can always get something for nothing, and that any deficits can be made up by eliminating "waste" and "fraud".
(5) Have an out-of-control proposition system in which sound-bite legislation chops the entire budget into earmarks and unrealistic "get tough on crime" bills.
(6) Spend more of your budget on jails than universities.

Need more jails to house the illegal alien felons, which allow higher taxes on the citizens, extorted at gunpoint by police state death squads.

1. refuse to build a border fence
2. refuse to deport millions of illegal aliens
3. allow millions of illegal aliens to get billion$ in welfare
4. allow millions of illegal aliens to export their tax-free paychecks
5. allow an ENRON insider to be governator instead of sending him to prison

Last time I was in downtown LA almost every employee was speaking Mexican. Even the security screeners at LAX were illegal aliens.

PN, I've never been a big fan of illegal immigration. That's one of the issues where I part from the left wing. But even I know that illegals are not the sole source of the problem.

For instance.. unless you pay in cash, you have to have SOME kind of documentation on your workers. So most illegal aliens doing anything other than nanny work, day labor, or running their own businesses present a (fake) Social Security card. Medicare and SSN are withheld from their paychecks, but they'll never see a dime of it. Social Security doesn't care...hell, they LIKE having two people paying into one SSN but only one person collecting! Makes the system more solvent.

But that brings up another issue: CA gets only $.0.79 back for every dollar that goes to the Feds.

We're too busy paying for New Mexico ($2.00), Alaska ($1.87), Mississippi ($1.77), Alabama ($1.71) etc.
