So "That'll be an interesting day..." was posturing.
When he betrays Simon and River in his mind it's not touching Mal, and he waits till he does it without risking Mal.
I think it's pretty clear that in his mind he wasn't betraying Mal...one thing I also found interesting occured to me while I was re-watching "Safe" the other day. Jayne wanted Simon and River off Serenity so bad he was more then willing to just leave them there with no reward at all..so it's like the money he would have gotten in "Ariel" is just icing on the cake to him.

That was hi-larious!

Hey! Let's not forget the Firefly Gag Reel!
Note that while most of the out-takes with the F-word were removed from the DVD version of the Gag Reel, I believe that the main ones with Jayne's faux pas remain. The downloadable R-RATED version includes all the F-word cuts where everyone f-ups their lines (get it at http://www.uncle.com/Firefly/Firefly-GagReel.mp4.zip). [Note: file is 58MB QuickTime MP4 zipped file on an OC3 network connection (big pipe)]...
Jayne holding Bertha says: "Damn it Mal... I forgot my line!"
Sitting in the main cargo bay he totally blows his line and only manages to spit out something like: "clerped... Mal... jipp.. blacc...", after which Mal stops and replies "CUT!... can't... get... line... out..." or some such thing as everyone laughs.
Cheers!

Not to nitpick, but it's "Vera" not "Bertha". . .but yeah . . .the "Dammit, Mal, I forgot my line." was great.
Also, just for the hell of it. . .the halting sentence flub went as such. . .
Jayne: Knew it. . .prob'ly. . .saw. . .cops. . .and. . .turned. . .tail. . .
Mal: Can't. . .sentence. . .proper. . .

Wash: "Its gruesome, oh and a thing in a jar."
(The next part may seem harsh, but we're good friends. And he knows the actual line. Somewhere in that head of his...)
Just how many times must I tell you that the line is "Oh my God it's grotesque! And hey, look here's a thing in a jar."

"Don't move, or I'll blow another crater in this tiny moon...
I believe the line is along the lines of..."Don't move or we will blow a new crater in this little moon." But I could be wrong.

I love the "can't...sentance...proper..." So gorram hi-larious! And on the subject of the gag reel, if you have the full one, this is just hi-larious:
"How much is that geisha in the window?"
"Chin-chin"
"I do hope that geisha's for sale."
"Yah!"
That was one of my very parts. I also like the one for the Message, where Mal keeps on popping up again and again and...

Thanks, Static. Yes, I did "Charlie Foxtrot" those quotes, didn't I?

Hey! Aren't you supposed to be on leave? Don't you have 'better things to do' than clean up my mess?
As an old geezer spook who spent some time in that part of the world, and helped get the Americans hidden in the Canadian embassy out of Iran in '80, I can appreciate your happiness being back home again. Best wishes and safe passage through this mess.

Alas, I returned to Kandahar early this week after two wonderful weeks back home.

Yes, and these:
The enemy invariably attacks on two occasions:
a) when you're ready for them.
B) when you're not ready for them.
If you can't remember, then the claymore IS pointed at you.
The enemy diversion you have been ignoring will be the main attack.
To steal information from a person is called plagiarism. To steal information from the enemy is called gathering intelligence.
Never draw fire, it irritates everyone around you.
And more...maybe later...
