When Jayne lets Badger onto Serenity, Badger walks through the door and hands him something. What is that?

When Jayne is working out you can hear 3 knocks. What he is handing Jayne is a large wrench used to knock on the door. maybe the doorbell was not working.

Ok, I guess that makes sense. Badger grabs a wrench that's laying around the airlock to knock on the door with, and then hands it to Jayne upon entry. Now that I think about it, rapping your knuckles on the hatch might be quite painful.
