I think these comments are hilarious. Don't worry, PhoenixRose, the only thing Joss says that's remotely nice is his tacked on "no offense, 'cause he's hot."

I'm puzzled by that as well. Before I saw the vid and just read the comment I figured his lack of negative to Twilight was a smart move. We all know his views, and can easily assume how he could feel towards Meyer's material (thiny veiled indeed), but its not the smartest thing in the world when you are in the industry to be negative about a massively popular frachise. Even if you are in your own little fandom niche (Stephen King did come out and say something but come on, he's Stephen King).

But then in the vid he said he saw it and said he loved it and the whole vampire/mortal thing brings about a very primal emotion.... and I became very confused and disappointed.

Because every single female character he as ever created would tear Edward to peices and probably knock some sense into Bella.

Yeah, what Ash said. I could have understood if he didn't want to out-and-out trash it, the comments about "Angel would kick his ass, but no offense, cuz he's hot," were indeed funny, and not really slamming the franchise, just digging at it in a giggly way. But yeah, the whole "I loved it, oh *squeal* she just loves him so much," crap... Really, it irks me. Ever since all the fuss about Twilight when I first tried to read the terrible, terrible book, I've had a few images pop into my head of Faith dusting the hell out of Edward, and telling Bella to stop whimpering with a nice smack to her noggin. I'd kinda wondered if it was just me.
