The natural habitat of flamingos seem to be front lawns. Perhaps they have a symbiotic relationship with Garden Gnomes.

Not that I recall but I bet that if you feed parakeets a diet high in whatever kind of shrimp the flamingos eat they would turn red too. This is an experiment that must be performed! I'll need a grant proposal, several pots of coffee, and three grad assistants.
