First of all: Holy Freakin' Hell, I did it! I sold my soul to the devil and they are making the movie!

Second: Anyone know how to trick the devil?

Thrid: Working Titles are just that ... working titles... here is some trivia for ya...

Rumor had it that the original title for Bill and Ted's Bogus Adventure was 'Bill and Ted Go To Hell', but in reality, the working title was 'Bill and Ted Go to Hell and Party With All of Their Friends and Some Homosexuals and the President'.

All About Eve (1950), was entitled 'Best Performance"

Annie Hall (1977) was 'Anhedonia'

E.T The Extra-Terrestrial (1982) was 'A Boy's Life'

Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977) was 'Watch the Skies'

Kelly's Heroes (1970) was 'The Warriors'

License to Kill (1989) was 'License Revoked'

On Deadly Ground (1994) had two! 'Spirit Warrior' and 'Rainbow Warrior'

Pretty Woman (1990) was '$3000'

Tootsie (1982) was 'Would I Lie to You?'

There are tons more, but you get the point. They push out a Working Title and it could change before the movie even hits the streets.

So, we dont have to start freaking out that Firefly is no where to be seen in the title just yet.

I call her "Vera"

I doubt that. Didn't Joss say he was using the movie to wrap up so loose ends? Plus he did say it would be about Reavers, and I don't remember any Reavers at the Battle of Serenity Valley. And then we'd loose most of the cast! Only Mal and Zoe would be in attendance.

Actually, he wrote a wrapping-up type script, then Universal said he could write a launching a renewed series-type script, so he rewrote it. At least, that's what I've heard.

Hey Outlander, it's pretty impressive that you predicted the name of the movie way back in December.

1. The name was changed because Fox wanted a large percentage cut for the using the title of one of their TV shows.
2. Firefly was cancelled, and since it is a failed project, the name is now sour.
3. The title "Firefly" sucks, it didn't work before. The TV show should have been called "Serenity."
I'm going with number one. None of these options make sense to me, but #2 and #3 seem extremely unlikely.

Not sure I see the logic in any of the three -

1. Fox will get paid whether the show is called Firefly or Mock Turtle's Happy Hour of Fun, if the show is demonstrably the same (now, if Joss happened to come up with a 9 people in space show that wasn't the same, they might get away with it).

2. If you're making a movie of a show, you don't re-invent the wheel. Only recent example that comes to mind is Enterprise - they made a Trek show, but took the view that calling it Trek would hurt it, now they are calling it Trek again to try and give it a hand.

3. See 2.

I'm with the wet blanket brigade, that the Coming Soon isn't the Firefly movie (though I hope it is). I say this because all the movies on there have had official launch notices - for the most part they are in active production (pre in the case of KK).

Against that, there is no sign of another Universal film called Serenity showing up in Google (maybe because too many Browncoats are posting on it and its buried the title waaaay down the list).

If this is a place holder (and there have been precedents I think, I'm wondering if the film is a year zero re-run of the pilot - dammit, we'll have to sit through re-introducing the characters all over again!

See, I'm avoiding falling into the trap of believing the movie is here till the first roll of film is in the can (damn digital movies to the Jar Jar level of hell!), and not even then (Gilliam's Don Quixote take a bow).

But.... Serenity just doesn't register on Google - given that every other movie there is sufficiently in production to appear on imdb, coming soon, aint-it-cool and fan sites for the various actors, it doesn't make sense that Serenity doesn't make an impact, even allowing for the fact it might be buried...

Has anybody found a film called Serenity?
