I don't mean to be contradicting or argumentative, but I have some concerns about doing a tight TV episode.
TV episodes work great if you have one or two authors who know exactly what's going to happen in their set amount of time and they have the ability to go back and edit out whatever doesn't fit within that limit.
Ideally, I think its a great idea for our RP, but realistically it might cause problems. What if our plot ends up taking longer than we expected? We can't go back and edit and I'd hate to have to rush the ending.

Just my thoughts.

MSWord always corrects me to "New Hokkaido". I figured it was named after the Japanese island. Who knows?

Everyone Dies. Someone's carrying a bullet for you, doesn't even know it. The trick is, to die of old age before he finds you.

Others correct me if I'm wrong, but I think we have these things to do before we land, more or less in this order:

- Some more Simon/Inara/Rowan exposition, including contact lens removal & comment
- Rowan's dream sequence
- Zoe and Slight's arrival at the infirmary
- Simon/Slight II: The Melee in the Vallee (or maybe this could go down after landing.)

If the involved could chime in, maybe we can decide a good point at which to land.

Works for me. The dream will take one more post, lasting through the nine-ball game, down to the final shot which will represent a choice she needs to make.

Works for me too. Gotta get with Raven about the "enter the infirmary" exposition.

Gotta remember, our loose definitions of Episodes include no less than 590 posts.

If we have players do "blended" posts, that custs the current post number down.

For example: Simon, Inara, and Rowan are all in the infirmary - that gives an oppertunity to do a 3 person "blended" post/move(s).

All the players have to do is get together via IMs oe even email and decide who is going to post. Then each player submits to the 'poster' their fiilized verson to be "blended".

Channain sorta did that for the Rowan/Niska fight. I only suggested and she wrote/posted. I think it worked out REALLY well.

It sounds a bit cluncky, but in reality it works! Not to mention it cuts down on the 'continunity errors'.

Pro: Cuts down on the number of posts too.
Con: Will increase the amount of down time between posts while folks are working out "blended" posts.

I don't think we should have to worry about cutting down the number of posts. I think we should just play it out as it comes and let it go where it goes (within the given story line of coarse)
But maybe that's just me.
I like the blending posts idea, but if we over-do it, then we'll lose the unique styles of the different players.
And like Astri said, it would take more time.
Not everyone has IM and e-mails can take just as long as posts, especially because of time differences and busy scheduals.

Please understand that I really like everyones' ideas and I'm not trying to shoot them down. I am a big fan of organization, but in this case, too much of it could take more time than its worth.

I'm shutting up now. These are just my opinions and if I'm out voted then I'm perfectly happy to go with whatever the majority wants.

REVISED POST ...

Astriana
Heh, jus' doin' me job as troubleshooter ... although smegaol will be taking it back over soon!

Channain
Has anybody said how long it will take to get to New Hokkaido?

And yes, it is a large Japanese Island just north of Japan.
I wonder if Humble just misspelled it? It is mentioned in the FF series?

BTW: interesting side note - In Trek the planet Andor was accidentally renamed to Andorra because of spell-check! Because there is an Andorra just below the Midi-Pyrenees in Spain.

No worries, your not argumentative, just got good questions!

Now, ya gotta remember, our loose definitions of an Episode includes no less than 590 posts.

If we have players do "blended" posts, that cuts the current post number down.

For example: Simon, Inara, and Rowan are all in the infirmary - that gives an opportunity to do a 3 person "blended" post/move(s).

All the players have to do is get together via IMs or even email and decide who is going to post. Then each player submits to the 'poster' their finalized version to be "blended".

Channain sorta did that for the Rowan/Niska fight. I only suggested and she wrote/posted. I think it worked out REALLY well.

It sounds a bit clunky, but in reality it works! Not to mention it cuts down on the 'continuity errors'.

Geezer
Ciara, Channain and I can wrap the - Simon/Inara/Rowan exposition, including contact lens removal & comment and Rowan's dream sequence - up in 3 posts, I would suppose.

As to the Simon/Slight II: The Melee in the Vallee, I had already an idea in that direction. No fight, there has been time for Simon to read the info on the memory stick. Not to mention that NCN is not in control now.

EDIT

I agree, sorta ... although - it may not take as much time as waiting for someone to post a move.

Again I cite my example of the Rowan/Niska fight.

I had no time to write 'my' section, so I emailed Channain, she asked questions, I answered and then she took it from there.

Now, I will admit, Channain, Ciara and I sorta are on the same frequency concernign characters and their intertwining arcs.

Feh, wipe that smirk offa yer faces ... That just SOUNDED dirty!

Yeah, I thought I'd give Frau a bit of a break... LOL

New Hikido/Hokkaido:
Nothing has been mentioned about how long the trip would take, although it could be a few days, 'cause it's supposed to be a rim world. (Where is Hera in relation to the rim?)

I don't know nuthin' 'bout no Japanese islands... This particular planet wasn't mentioned in the show - I just figured it was a name that Humble made up, but it could be referring to the island.

I would be in favor of cutting down the number of posts, doing blended posts, etc. for the specific reason of bandwidth. Goodness knows our RP takes up a lot of it. We've posted 1000+ in the RP alone, with probably another 750+ in the OOC threads. I'd prefer not to tax Haken's systems and the site any more than we have to. (Believe me, I am donating heavily to the "Haken needs a new system" fund...) Perhaps we can ask Haken if there's any way to archive the AiG RP and OOCs once it's finished. (Maybe I'll get back to work on consolidating it and we can post it as a fanfic or something...)

Squee, darlin', I gotta agree with Capn on this one... You're not being argumentative - the whole point of this is to exchange ideas/thoughts/feelings so we can roll into the next RP and just have fun... (Besides, Geezer's probably gonna read all this, then ignore it and do whatever he wants. Just Kidding! )
