It was worse than Casino Royale's opening? It looked like computer graphics straight out of 1990. I just remember laughing at that movie way way too much when it wasn't intending to be funny. Things like the opening song come to mind.

I'm still not renting it. The only way to voice my disapproval of Casino Royal is to never give them another cent. Or at least until they replace the directors, producers and dumbo/bond.

I loved Casino Royale - probably my favorite Bond film, maybe tied with Goldeneye. But I was underwhelmed by QOS. Wasn't terrible, just didn't have enough of it's own story - it's all just about following up on Vesper's death in CR.

I think both movies would have been stronger if they'd left off the excessive 4th act of CR, and placed it at the beginning of the overly-slight QOS.

The main reason I can't include CR is that with the 'new gritty realism' comes the impossible physical stuff Jackie Chan in real life couldn't do. Be real or be outrageous, but an uneven mix of the two just don't fly with me (btw, that fall-into-the-plane stunt at the beginning of Goldeneye almost killed it for me- it was the strength of the rest of the film that turned me around there).
QOS was much better in that regard IMO, but it was still a little too 'endless stamina & unbreakable bones' for the level of seriousness they were trying to achieve. Anyone remember back when Bond could dislocate his shoulder doing something like that (World Is Not Enough)?

What in CR was physically impossible? Hell, there wasn't even much action to begin with. Closest I can think of is the parkour stuff in the opening chase... but that's something people actually do.

I thought Bond's rope-tumble/shoot upside down bit in QOS was more unbelievable than anything in CR. Though it looked cool.

That's...not actually possible as it was filmed. Parkour takes place in mostly known arenas- using it in an unfamiliar terrain for three or four solid minutes would be something I could accept from Daredevil or Buffy...

Just sayin' that if I saw that Parkour chase in Die Another Day, I wouldn't have complained at all. But to make a 'grittier & more realistic' Bond movie in which he has physical abilities that rival & surpass any previous incarnation just seem wrong to me somehow.

Oh, and wanna see what happens when you do Parkour in unfamiliar settings? Check out the dude that steps out onto nothing in The Incredible Hulk.

I could care less if his abilities match prior actors - it's a restart - he aint the same guy.

And I still think it's a bit overyly picky to complain about a trained super agent doing stuff that street kids do...

Sure, they made a more realistic Bond, but it's not cinema verite here...

Anyway, I think the real difference here is, you like Craig as the new Bond, and I wanted someone more like Clive Owen.

So I'm more like to pick on stuff, where you're more able to let some slide.
Which is understandable.
