A plea for help

I apologize for asking this of all of you, but I have to try something.

Two days ago, someone in the fark community posted a plea for help. His son was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer and the typical chemotherapy treatment will not help him. There is a treatment that may help, but his insurance won't pay for it, so he came to us (the fark community) for help. So, far we've raised about $20,000 of the $100,000 he needs. But, this isn't anywhere near enough. We need more help, so I come begging to all of you to help him out. Brett's father's original post is here:

I know this may sound like a scam, but honestly it isn't. I have been checking on the veracity of this situation. Calling the hospital will confirm that the boy is a patient there.

I do this because no one, especially a parent, should have to face what this family is going through. And as a browncoat, I have to help. This is after all, what we are here for. Thank you for anything you can do. It means a lot to me as well as Brett's family.
