If you're refering to the VFF, 
I suspect we just have too many threads here on fff.net, the the problems here is just the dam breaking. And I don't believe the VFF had much to do with that. Look at how many new thread's we've put up- http://www.fireflyfans.net/threadlist.asp?b=21 and the threads in the Talk Story forum, where most of the hidey threads are located (at least this one is)- http://www.fireflyfans.net/threadlist.asp?b=11
Look at those and tell me that the VFF project is causing the overload.
Sorry, I just get really annoyed when people assume that our harmless role-playing is causing the site to do down, when we aren't doing anything other than post on threads, same as you all, and in fact you've created way more threads than we have.

Actually no. I'm referring to the script kiddy that keeps trying to spam the events notice board and blue sun room with autoloading spybots. He(she?) has tried before and because of it Haken has to do a lot of manual database scrubbing. Which causes downtime and slow response time. VFF as you note hasn't caused a noticeable strain on the server. At least I haven't noticed any great performance hit that seems attributable to the VFF threads.
