Hey Ray - You took my comment yesterday waaaay too seriously. I wasn't "judging" you guys. I merely said it seems to me you guys were accepting the idea of the end of the poll rather quickly, esp. in light of Rich's comment that he was "thinking about it"

Of course, that's a luxury you can afford sitting at #1.

We, on the other hand, just started this thing, and in spite of your computations, have no intention of allowing that much time to go by before we get on the Top 40 board. There are millions of Surface fans out there, and I am certain will will be finding more of them all the time, many of whom will help.

Anyway, I sure didn't mean to tick you, or anyone else here off with my comments, "jst sayin' " remember? I was merely trying to get you guys to see it from our POV. I apologize for upsetting you, and I will get you a replacement box of Cheerios to replace those I "Frosted"

Meanwhile, in my eternal quest to keep Trae happy, here is....

First off, congrats to Firefly, which passes the 650,000 vote mark today, with our help. I certainly hope you guys are voting for them every time you Nom.

Yesterday we had a bad day, with only 180 Noms. Down 35 from the day before Our average is now 196.04

Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye got 47 Noms. Down 2. Their average is now 44

The Waltons got 22 Noms, Up 3. Their average is now 22.25

As I mentioned yesterday, if we kept our numbers up we could have passed today. Unfortuately, that didn't happen and we only got 180 Noms, which now cost us an extra day. Instead of passing today, with us in the #16 spot tomorrow, we will now have to wait until Sat. for that "honor"

That is unless you pull off a miraculous 225 Noms today, and they don't do any better than their average. Both things are unlikely, so Sat. it is.

We are only 180 Noms away from the #16 spot on the Nom list. It will take us 1.11 days to pass at our current average rates

We are 1552 Noms away from the #15 spot on the Noms list. It will take us 8.8 days to pass at our current average rates.

Ray from FFF.net tells me that, yesterday we did better than 7 shows (17.5%) on the Top 40 list.

Howdy SirThomas - this is purely for pride. There are many, many fans who do not believe in polls at all - but it's it's a chance for most of us to drop by, say hello - and once an hour vote for the best show ever. When I started voting Firefly was way, way down in the top 40 - Xena was way, way on top of everything and the amazing people here have - in about two years - pushed Firefly where it is today. So, we don't really know if anyone but us pays attention to the poll - it's SOMETHING to do to show our support of the show and (as Mal would say) "it's enough." (for now, that is!)

As a result of Rich's decision to end the Poll at 10 million votes, we Nimsters have been forced to make a strategic change.

We need as much time as possible to make our climb, and voting for shows in the Top 40 (often as many as 5 or 6 with each vote) would result in hundreds of thousands of votes over the coming months. That would result in getting to that 10 million, quicker than we would need to, so we have decided to simply nominate Surface each time, and leave out any "extra" voting. In other words, we, regretably, must withdraw our support for Firefly in this poll.

Nonethelss, we are in pursuit of other possible polls, and if there is any way we can assist the Browncoats on those polls, you may rest assured that you can count on us to do so.

Meanwhile, as the word gets out over the next few days, you should expect to see a couple of hundred less votes each day more than your current average. (We had a weak 163 Noms yesterday)

We apologize for that, and wish this hadn't been forced upon us by the closing of the poll in this manner.

We are also extremely grateful for all the support you guys have been giving to us as well.

Sis, in particular, who couldn't have been a better friend with her constant Noms, if she'd come from savesurface, in the first place.

Personally, I am also very grateful for the friends I've made here. I really regret the misunderstanding of a few days back, and want to leave here, being very clear, that I never doubted any of your loyalty to your show, esp. FT's and Ray's. A show couldn't have better fans than you guys. My issue was only with your casual acceptance of the polls closing, and I wish to apologize to anyone who was offended by my poor choice of wording on that.

Rest assured that that incident has nothing to do with this change in support. It is simply strategic, and not something we even desire.

All of you will always be welcome at our site, and if you are signed up you will still receive the Surf Reports, so you can see how we are doing in our (now desperate) climb for the Top 40. If you aren't signed up, feel free to. The Surface/Firefly Lounge was open before this poll and will be afterwards. I am after all a Browncoat as well.

I will be looking in here to see how you guys are doing as well. With all the new faces poping up here, I would expect you guys to make up the difference before long anyways.

I think I'll help a little with the Surface guy's postion, and stop voting for Buffy and Angel. I shall continue voting for Dark Shadows and Firefly, of course, and will be noming all my regulars; but I was only voting for those two shows because they were Joss shows, and now, when votes have become precious, it's time to drop those two.
