Yesterday we had another low scoring day, with 172 Noms. Down 9 from the day before Our average is now 196.1

Bones got 36 Noms. Up 4. Their average is now 41.56

Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye got 31 Noms. Down 7. Their average is now 43.23

As I mentioned yesterday, I expected the totals to be down a bit as a couple of us weren't going to be able to vote much. As it turned out, I was able to get in more than I expected however. Yesterday we had a respectable day, with 190 Noms. Up 18 from the day before Our average is now 195.8

Bones got 58 Noms. Up 22. Their average is now 42.19

Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye got 52 Noms. Up 16. Their average is now 44

Todays the day we will pass Bones (totals tomorrow) so keep up the momentum. Yesterday was a big improvement, although we still are below our 200 + totals from last week. Nonetheless, we are doing great and on schedule.

Since 2001, TV_Vote has collected well over 8 MILLION valid votes in
our quest to find The 5 Best TV Shows of All Time. Seven years is a
long run for anything – job, TV series, web site even – and it’s time
to start thinking about closure.

10 MILLION sounds like a nice number for the history books, and we
have made history here, of a sort, so I am thinking of closing the
TV_Vote polls when the total number of valid votes on the site hits 10
MILLION or by the morning of January 3, 2009, whichever comes first.
(January 2nd is a Thursday and we usually get pretty good numbers on
Thursdays.)

Total valid votes being the combined totals of the Top 40 and
Nomination Polls, BTW.

If votes keep coming in at current averages, we will hit 10 MILLION
valid votes in slightly over 100 days, but the Summer Doldrums are
about to begin and a lot of our regular voters vanish in the sun (and
not just the vamps either) so I expect numbers to begin to drop soon.
Traditionally, our numbers come back for a while in August and then
drop again until the “real” TV season begins in late September.

Of course, we are in the midst of Who Wants To Be President? here in
the USA so some of you might be inspired and rally new voters to your
respective shows and surprise me.

No problem. The TV_Vote Fan Power Hall of Fame has plenty of room for
new shows. Buffy and Farscape will be there before too long and after
the polls end the TV_Vote Fan Power Hall of Fame will remain online
for future generations of TV viewers to admire.

As we near our finale I also will offer you guys a chance to “sign”
the site for history – leave your name or handle behind in a permanent
list of voters.

I posted a reply at that URL, should anyone be interested.

This does place some pressure on a few folks; in the Top 40, Firefly will not be able to reach 1 million votes. However, that would have been a mathematical eventuality, not a real challenge; the challenge, now, will be staying on top of the daily vote totals, once the Jericho Rangers, the Xenites, and whatever other proven hard-hitters catch wind of this. And there is plenty of time for other shows to achieve their goals, within the next three to four months!

Some folks might say that we should stop voting for other shows; I say that Firefly has nothing to lose by continuing to support our friends, just as we always have. Nobody will ever catch us, nor, hopefully, ever match us. Browncoats don't leave their friends behind.

In the Nominations Poll, I think folks should continue to advance the shows they like, to see how far they can get, even if there is no time to enter the Top 40, save for Blood Ties, and, possibly, Moonlight. There is no cause to just up and quit, not when there are still goals to achieve.

So, let's keep on, business as usual, mebbe squeeze out a few more votes each day. The Polls will end when they end, and then we can look back on what we've accomplished, share our stats with the rest of the voting world, and bring it all home.

I must say, I am upset at the thought of the poll closing down, as we just started (having only heard about it a few months ago)

It does sound to me, like he hasn't made a final decision, but is considering it.

I suggest we let him know we'd like one more year, so that FF can get it's million, and that we can get into the Top 40.

If Rich doesn't get the feedback, he'll close it down for sure, and WE NEED IT.

It's a rallying point for both of our shows and unites fans in a common purpose, as we'll as brings "us" (FF & Surface fans) together.

I support Rich's decision; he's been at this a LOT longer than most of the rest of this, and, 10 million total votes is a good target to shoot for. That way, nobody can say he's arbitrarily stopping them short of whatever goal they're after; it's just 10 million.

Firefly can still achieve 750,000 votes, which I think is a worthwhile compromise to the million. We also have our goals keeping our streak of top voting days unbroken, and our lead over not only Xena, but, really, over the entire Poll. Right now, that's 138,275. However, Bonanza's lead over Gunsmoke is actually higher, at 163,350. Within the time Rich estimates remaining, we can bring our lead close to 195,000, as the voting currently stands. I'd love to be able to list Firefly's accomplishments, for which we've all been working so hard, as:

Captured the #1 spot from Xena, and held it, achieving a lead over the #2 spot in excess of 190k, the highest lead of any show over its nearest competitor; achieved the longest streak at 1,000+ daily votes, at 75 days, as well as maintaining an average daily vote over the year leading to the end of the Poll of 1k+; ended with an estimated 9% of the total votes cast; and second-highest total votes in a day (after Xena), at 2,359, Wednesday, March 7, 2007.

I think that should show everyone what Browncoat Fan Power is about!

Now, as for not having all you fine vumpers to associate with on a near-hourly basis... Well, we have at least three months to figure something out!
