I dont think Fox cares. Look at how popular Buffy and Angel was? They didnt care about how HUGE that following was. They killed it so they could move something new and Sh***y in. Joss finds newer and better ways to get screwed.

Fox won't pick it back up, but I am awfully surprised that sci-fi hasn't. It has a dedicated group of fans and if they showed it in regular weekly rotation it would undoubtedly get better numbers than the crap factory movies that they show, which have to cost more than an episode of Firefly.
As an aside if Starship Troopers got a second movie why the hell wouldn't Serenity?
When there are no heroes where will we turn?
