Over at IGN they have an article on the greatest ships in Scifi. Serenity is listed at #5 but they also have a poll. Serenity is currently in the lead with over 33% of the total votes. With The Falcon in a close second.

Don't really think I need to tell you which I voted for but I will say Samus' Gunship and the Falcon would be in my top three.

It's nearly a tie between Serenity(with Serenity in the lead) and The Falcon. I know I was torn on which to choose, but, in the end Serenity won for me.

I know. The Falcon of course has weapons systems, and fairly formidable at that. Though Serenity is quite a bit larger with more cargo room and a more balanced layout. More like a house. Like a poster over at IGN said, in the end it came down to which one I could navigate with my eyes closed. I'd run into quite a few walls before I'd make it from the engine room to the cockpit on Han's old boat. On Serenity I could do it at a full run unless someone left their chair out or something. Yep I know... silly geekiness but still in my dreams I'd love my own Firefly... maybe even a series 4. I love the added cargo capacity. Nothin' wrong with a 2 or 3 though. I even got a name all picked out.

Serenity starting to break away at 33% now.

I thought that the Enterprise-D and the Bebop deserved places in the top ten before say, an imperial Star Destroyer. Cool? Definitely. Fan favorite ship? Nah.

Both ships are about as aerodynamic as a wad of barbed wire. Takes a lot of energy to get through atmo. Some streamlining and maybe a little C-130 Hercules to polish up the appearance.

Kaylee's decorations tip the scale in favor of Serenity.

sorry guys, i have to agree with a couple of the posters at ign, and call shenanigans on the exclusion of the TARDIS. while it has no weapons, it can go ANYWHERE in time and space.
and Bigger on the inside. MUCH bigger on the inside. (could fit much much more cargo, etc. inside and still park it ANYWHERE. even the sub-compact spaces.)

Yes it's probably the only cool thing about the show... but is it a ship? Maybe... not convinced but whatever. Also Serenity has no weapons herself.
