Hi all,
First, my apologies for posting an "I need a place to stay" here. When you are on the rim, you have reached the end. I need to relocate from Florida, and I was hoping Alabama, or another southern state. I've been jobless here for a long time, and now I can no longer live where I am at (ends 12/31).
The ONLY reason that I have posted this here, is because I know of the tremendous love and respect browncoats have for one another. I'm a handicapable person, and I receive my VA payments every month (disabled vet - and I am no war hero), so I have a little money. But it is not enough, and I am going to lose my car soon. I am normal, just bad feet.
I am a respectful person, and a rather neat, divorced male in his late thirties. I humiliate myself here, because there is no ego left in me. Will anyone contact me? I will do housework, yardwork, laundry, I don't care, and I will pay what I can. I will, of course, look for work on my arrival, but a helping hand is very much needed and appreciated.
My respects to everyone reading this, and I am sorry if I bothered or offended anyone.

Hi, and thank you for the luck. I am open to all options, of course. I never like to impose on anyone, and there is no too far in my book.
Will

I work for the VA in Vermont, so let me try to help you. My advice to you is to call your regional center at 800-827-1000 and ask for a friends of Veterans Program. You might have to look for a local number to your nearest VA center since I believe that number I published above will send you to Ohio. At least if I call it that is where my call gets sent to. The Friends of Veterans Program is not run by the VA and it is a program run by VA employees at centers to help Honorably discharged Veterans who are needy. Also if I were you I would contact a local DAV and ask them to help file a claim for you. I'll try to find out a DAV number for you if you will tell me where in Florida you live.

Thanks for the info. I know that 1800 number well. It is the main one, and it automatically transfers you to your region, or something like that. I've never heard of the friends of veterans program, that sounds like it would really help.
I will do that first thing Monday morning. Thanks again!

You might also try the VFW at www.vfw.org. They might be able to offer you some help or suggestions.
Best wishes!
