RWED taking over the 'verse.

Grizwald, did you perhaps mean the discussions that aren't exactly classified as real world and not under the real world forum but they're real life vs. FF/S directly related instead?
Like the 76th thread, the Imponderables thread,
the Pictures thread, the voting thread, etc?
While I'm typing this there are many threads about many subjects on the front of General Discussion and there are two directly FF/S related... one about the price of FF and the other about not leaving Serenity.
I noticed your subject brought out the real world folks to rebutt you quickly.
I'm wondering if you're talking about something besides them.
If so, I have this to add.
Please understand that this is MHO. Only mine.
I belong to many 'Verse related boards.
I've noticed that they all trend toward this stuff as time goes by. How could they do else?
Let's be frank... there is nothing new in the 'Verse to talk about.
We are awaiting comics.
We are awaiting the game.
We are awaiting updates to the role playing books and game.
There isn't anything else to look forward to.
We have little hope of a continuation of the 'Verse on film at this point. ( That doesn't mean I've given up hope entirely, nor does it mean I don't wish fervently for more! It just means I'm realistic. )
What that boils down to then is that we are a community. So we talk about many subjects and like all communities, we have arguing folks who love the poli threads, folks who want to see each other, threads for being kind to each other, special interests and fun and a bar.
I miss being excited about FF/S too, I miss those days. I miss the early camaraderie and the sheer fun it was to be so wrapped up in something. But that time has passed. We're in the trenches now and waiting. So like all good soldiers we're exchanging food, sneaking whiskey, telling jokes, exchanging pictures and discussing those we love and finding games to play. It's the natural progression of things.
Thus Haken's new site he's making....I suspect he sees the changes occurring and knows we need a new "town" to play in.
I won't leave here, no matter more FF/S. This boat is my home. I love it here.
Besides, I'm a Browncoat and I'm stubborn like Mal... I'll wait til the Cap'n gets back.

Well said, FollowMal. While you are clear that you are giving only your own opinion, you describe mine as well. Except I couldn't have said it as well.
Thank you.

Yup FM, Hence "ShinyUniverse". IMO, Haken created (by my poor mem. and his words) S.U. for this very reason to keep the great community alive and broaden the topics for us to share.
Definitely agree it is less FF content and not necessarily more RWED content.
I remember a time when the estimated value of FFF was near 95K due to traffic and hits. Think the last time I looked it was around 27K.
To be honest, we are lucky to have the traffic we do now, which is largely in part due to RWED, caption games, other series, themed threads, etc.
I remember my first visit here. First, I was blasted for putting up the "Dreaded" petition thread. (ducks, my own fault, didn't spend enough time researching) Then I ran across a thread of two old-timers discussing how we should stick to FF related stuff. They basically said, I could give a "rats ass" about what hair bow someone is wearing or what TV show they are watching tonight, let’s just talk FF. 'Course, I couldn't let that slide, and on my third or so post (riskin' eternal FFF damnation) I came up with this. "You guys sound like some Uber-touring band fans. (Say that 3 times fast) New fans come along doing things their way and it's unacceptable. Old Fan: Well, u weren't there in '76. That’s when the real shit went down." Well, that is coming up on 3 years ago. I currently talk “Heroes” each week with that very guy.
Classic Clique. RL or VL it’s all the same. ...and I am sure the numbers we need(ed) for a sequel/continuation will include Flans from every kind of clique that has formed on this V Community.
So, ease up, we're all FF fans here.

Heads up!

Certified grizwald-free. Grenades cost extra.

Just thought I'd share some rations while I wait in the trenches with y'all.
Content on this site doesn't bother me -- sometimes it's FF related, sometimes not. I come here for the respectful folk that hang about. I stay in the proper categories and read the little tidbits that I find interesting. I'd rather read about Heroes or knitting here than elsewhere. People here are just nicer.

I'd do that if I could figure out how to find it. "My Firefly" page will give me a full list of my blogs and BSR items (both or which are very few) but it doesn't give me a link to access all of my posts, only the most recent ones are listed.

I don’t even remember my first post, but I know it was a long time ago. Back before Firefly was on air or shortly after the first episode. I’m old skool.
