It is entirely possible there is, although I don't think I would want to drink it. I have gotten some of my friends into drinking a good beer and eating chocolate at the same time. I know it sounds disgusting, but it is awesome, and once you try it you'll sort of understand wht Germany keeps trying to beat up the world and almost does.

Darn. Now a home brewed root beer would be good, and something I would drink too!

And I have a question. This is not to cast shame on any of you fine folks.

What is the point of getting so drunk you pass out? Or of binge drinking? Or "lose control"? Seems to me all it is is an excuse to behave in a way that wouldn't be sociably acceptable otherwise. And we accept it because "I was drunk". I have nothing against people who drink socially or in moderation, but I just don't get wanting to obliterate one's self in an alcoholic haze, just to be able to get away with something.

Again, please remember that I'm not pointing fingers, it's just something I've wondered about since high school, this is a virtual bar with virtual(and otherwise) drinkers and you people are so shiney I know you won't hurt me. Right?

Well I haven't done it in ages but I used to think it was fun if I remember correctly. I think part of it had to do with the behavior aspect. It was good to get wasted and party hard.

Did that help at all?

What a day! Prepping 3,000 bags for the Red Cross to hand out at the Holiday Parade on Saturday.

Forget the beer (as good as it is), I'll have a bourbon please.

When I was in the boyscouts in the 1970s we use to make our own rootbeer, well really it was a tea because cabonating a beverage while camping isn't easy unless you were planning on it. Basically while in Massachusetts we would dig up sasperilla roots and boil them into a tea and then add sugar. To make it into a rootbeer all you would really need is to carbonate it. Of course that was about 30 years ago so I might be forgetting some steps.

The CCB, also know as the DragonCon brew, is 7.6% alcohol by volume and contains as much caffeine as a cup of coffee in each serving.
Also, my birch, root, and ginger (soon to be cream soda and orange) beers have no (well, negligible) alcohol.

Morning all,

all this talk of chocolate beer reminds me of wind band tour of Belgium I went on as a kid (well 16 and the others were 18), they served us some caramel beer that was a local specialty at a reception. We couldn't work out if we liked it or not so we kept drinking it, unfortunately it was also about 7.5% proof and we all got somewhat accidentally drunk.

I miss my alcohol but only cause I like my quiet pint and wine with food plus the occasional whiskey.

Ah well, better get on, hope you're all doing good.

Hi there my fluffy little bunnies. Yes! It is Thursday! The only day when I have any free periods with which to catch up on lesson prep and browncoat gossip (guess which I have prioritised today!)

Sorry I've been so quiet recently. Been having a bad time of it at work. You can always tell, if I'm a bit depressed I moan at length to whoever will listen, if I'm very depressed I go quiet.

Anyway, I'm back now and ready to drink vast quantities of Jimi-beer (I don't drink beer and quite agree that binge drinking is unattractive but there are some factors that outweigh all of that and Jimi-beer couldn't possibly be anything but of the good!)

Jimi, did you find a home for the little hat I knitted? I had to make up the pattern but I felt it was pretty cunning in the end!

How're you holding up MsB? Did the sweetiews help at all during your recent unhappiness?

Nice to see you again Gee. I keep seeing my pile of Dresden books and thinking that we have to meet up (or else I'll post them to you. You'd really enjoy them I think!)

As for drinking too much. I've only passed out once drinking like that, when I was 14 and I joined a wandering party of older teens for a game of bull sh**.

Drink to get buzzed and feel good but never to excess. I never understood those who get so trashed they have no idea what up is.

Strangely it's not the students who are getting me down at the moment. My boss doesn't like me. I don't like her. We're both being terribly British about it but not much fun at work.

Must get home. Promised my Mum I'd bring home a Chinese takeaway two hours ago.

Good humour for the morning:
HR - realizing that a decent amount of (paid) time away from work leads to a healthier, happier employee - announced the New! Paid! Time! Off! Policy! Huzzah!

I'll spare you the details and get to the good bit.

When you do Teh Maths - yes, see, they do come in handy - the reality of their New! P!T!O! Policy! is that people who've been here less than 2 years lose 4 days worth of paid time off, people who've been here between 2 and 5 years lose 2 days, people who've been here between 5 and 10 years lose 4 days, and people who've been here over 10 years lose 5 days.

And they genuinely, honestly packaged and presented this as a Good! Improved! Competetive! Benefit!

So when I say I work with / for a bunch of cocksuckers, I am not exaggerating. And this is just one instance of their well practiced cocksuckery.

First off I would like to say thank you HK cuz I have been sitting here trying to figure out how to answer this post without sounding like a dick. I don't know if I can so I will just go with it:

OK so here we go:

Never said it was a boy. You assumed here. Might be that what you took as a "male pig" comment was a family blessing for any new member to the family (it wasn't, just saying hey! It could be )

It is a boy by the way!!!!!!!!!!

I cannot as of yet say that this will be for my daughter. I will not make the decision for her either way. That is her decision and always will be. I only hope that I will raise an independant person confident enough to make a decision on her own the way she sees fit.

To my knowledge as far as this goes though, the name will still end. She will be a (my last name here), then her husband's last name hyphenated. Even so my Family Name will die. Her children will have it but afterwards there is no more. The next Generation would have (even if hyphenated) dropped my Family's Name.

My generation would be the last unless there was a Boy (or a Girl with the stubbornness necessary) born to keep my Family Name so yes I am happy that this child will keep my Family's Name without having to "decide" that she wants to.

Society does suck from time to time. I should not be held accountable for what has been and will be (for the time being) the norm. I am just one man (and we are just one Family) trying to live here.

Also, I am not a Pig. I was just giddy and trying to figure out a creative way to say "hey it's a Boy" (without jumping around like a damned fool) and I obviously failed to do without sounding like said Pig so I guess "oink, oink" is in order.

Thank you for making me think!

HK
