Yes!!!! Space Battleship Yamato is my all time favorite. Since more has come to the US, Harlock, Queen Emeraldas and Galaxy Railways have topped my list from Leiji Matsumoto.

Heard of the all and watched them in our meetings in the 90s at UB. Great shows. Only one we didn't get on Laserdisc was Dragonar, the rest we had on LD and watched regularly. Dragonar unfortunately was a old dub from a fellow in Japan and the quality was not that great.

Others I love:

Orange Road
Bubblegum Crisis (original series)
Crusher Joe
Dragon Heaven (Now has anyone else seen that one?)
Project A-Ko
Too many more to list.

New stuff I am watching:

Yukikaze
Haruhi Suzumiya
Gunslinger Girl
Fafner

Does anyone remember a movie called Iria? I remember seeing it and liking it when I was a little kid, but not much else. It was one of the first animes I saw, back when Saturday Morning anime was on Sci-Fi.

Sadly, I haven't had the chance to watch much anime. I grew up with Yamoto (Battle of the planets) and G-force. I've seen a few great series and movies. I'm surprised that no one has yet mentioned the Classic: Ninja Scroll. Great flick. Vampire Hunter D was another great one. It's been so long I've forgotten the titles of some of the series I watched.

I remember it (although I get it and Dragon Century mixed up ). That's the one with the girl and the small but powerful sentient mecha built before the apocalypse, right?

Deepgirl, I vaguely remember Iria (Zeiram?). You can search the web for info on it...

Jadehand, if you like Ninja Scroll, you may want to check out Yotoden (US title Wrath of the Ninja). It's way better, IMHO.

All mine have been mentioned - Cowboy Beebop, Outlaw Star, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke etc.

I haven't seen Full Metal Alchamist or Ghost in the Shell, but they're both on my list of things I should watch... some day...

I vaguely remember a series called Armitage III that I really enjoyed. It was the first anime I watched actually. Of course I only ever saw it once and it's been so long I don't know if it would stand up now.

I don't think it counts as anime, but I've got to mention The Mysterious Cities of Gold. Best! Cartoon! Ever!

I remember Armitage, but I can't remember if I ever saw it.

As for Vampire Hunter D, it's a good one, but not one of my top favs. Tho it reminds me of Vampire Princess - great series.

Best movie villain name ever: Felix La Poubelle

Vampire Princess Miyu was a good OVA series, but they also made a TV series that was not quite as good....

There was another Vampire Hunter D movie a few years ago called "Bloodlust" that was good / better than the original.
