the march was a blast, we were the 4th or 5th group to march, we were behind "Potters",....there were people who knew we were Browncoats and some of the crowd asked who we were, we told the "Firefly", and the next day I was wearing my "76th" shirt and when the Colonel and I were walking thru the Marriott some body said in passing ...."hey Browncoat".....so people are reconizing the 76th patch. I though we look really good!

Well, it's Tuesday..gotta go back to work tomorrow...and lots to do today...but here's a quick take on DragonCon...the 76th ROCKED the parade, the CO got LOTS of new applications for membership! I got there on Thursday, checked in...met up with other members to march to the Vortex. It was a long march (as we had been warned) and it was hot and steamy...so I was a large pile of sweat when we got there (thanks to Private Sig for the towel...!) Even tho the Vortex had been warned of the large group of us arriving...I think they weren't really expecting as many as actually showed up so our poor waitresses/waitors had quite a scramble to seat/feed/provide drinks...but they did a fantastic job. It was wonderful to meet everyone that I've been messaging for nearly a year. Helped for the rest of the con to 'recognize' each other, too. On Friday we had the day to ourselves to wander about the convention...sooooo very much to see (and covet). Wore my uniform pants/boots and the FABULOUS Zoe shotgun my husband bought for me;(actually met the guy who sold it to him AND JimiBear met the fellow who MADE it!) got lots of compliments on that and told a lot of people to make sure they watched the parade and our inaugural march..missed my chance at a tee shirt (picture of River in the battle pose saying "My Turn"...they sold out of my size..dammit)...good swag to be had and so many unbelievably well done costumes. My friend who was flying in from Texas experienced one of those horrible canceled flights so she didn't make it on Friday..OR Saturday...so she missed the parade!)... Here's how my Saturday morning went...I had stayed out so late th night before and we were to 'muster' in the Hyatt lobby at 7:30 AM...I was so excited I kept waking up... 2am...3:14 am... 4am...5:25am...then 7:09 AM!! AHHHHHHHH...luckily Pvt. Dae called my room because she needed a helmet for the parade so that got me moving...STILL was a bit late for the muster but, man it was sooooo cool to see all of us in uniform! ArtCat handed out the parade ribbons...and we headed over to the park/gathering spot. Again...unbelievably cool costumes...tightly gathered sooo very much eye-candy...brains in overload..We posed for a group shot on some stairs...had NO time to 'practice' marching, and really, no space either..it was packed with people. We had a lot of folks taking pictures of us and, even tho it was early, early morning...it was very, hot! Browncoat1 had us take off our helmets and drink water. We marched with the SouthEastBrownCoats...following their 'companion guild' which made most of the menfolk VERY happy. They all looked lovely. When we fell in we formed two lines so people could see ALL of us and our shiny-ness. I was next to VEX...who I kept reminding to "slow down' so we stayed together she's a speedy walker. HUGE crowds..we chanteded "76th" several times during the march...had many, many picturers and video folk running about taking shots of us. The parade ended at the Marriott where staff handed out water (we needed it).. we then occuppied the lounge on the second level of the Marriott for some wonderful awards and promotions that others can tell you all about much better than I can. For me, it was back tothe room..and a change of clothes..into a "nightmare battalion" shirt because the full uniform was too hot for me. Later we overtook an area on the 10th floor of the Marriott for some delicious barbecue procured by Zephyr and Jimi!! Lots of story-telling/joy/and happiness shared by all. My friend from Texas FINALLY showed up with two of her pals...The elusive Ninja HK also put in an appearance(!)..So nice to meet everyone again. Saturday was a very late night (3am)...as there was AGAIN so much to see-listen to and watch...my brain is still sorting everything out so I apologize for not being any clearer...Got to the Shindig and danced away to the bedlam bards! During the "River" dance...lost my camera; found by a fellow dressed as Badger...so tragedy averted...Okay..so Sunday AM...I volunteered for the SEBC table and met "TimR"...ni

But you forgot:
Oh, wait... there's no GORRAM ROOM for everything on one website!
It was a great time. I started a thread for pics and stuff.
Sister neglected to mention that not only were we following the Companions, we were ahead of the Spartans.
It was a shiny sandwich on pretty bread with a side of applause.

Truly warms the heart to see what the 76th has accomplished in less than a year.
I'm so proud of y'all.
Thanks for the reportage.
Gotta go look now at the fine shiny photos!

Wow.
Yep, that's about all the words I have at the moment.
But, I do have photos.

Oh, and you have got to check this out....this is the Browncoat table in the Dealer room, packed three deep with people wanting to buy things. It slowed down traffic on that row. How shiny is that?

Then the after-Con shindig at the house...and the Bedlam Bards were there!

Now to go to bed....
Thank you all for keeping the thread alive!

I'll try and get pics up for you guys tonight. Since my #$%$%^%^@@!#! school network blocks me from accessing the 76th board I can't post there right now so I'll do that when I get home too....

It was a BLAST. The pictures only give a glimpse of the fun that was had by all. Thanks for posting the pics, Tristan. Hopefully we'll have time to post some more later.
Be sure to ask Magda about talking to Mark Sheppard in the lobby of the Marriott.

Okay, I am so amazed that everything went so well at the con. Friggen shiny are the pics. Honestly a few help stoke some misty pride out of my as of late hardened heart. But what really got me were the post con shindig pics. Kinda strange to see so many from the board at Tristans.
Strange in a good way though.

yeah it's strange now to be posting instead of just talking...
By the way...what in the hell is with that rum you sent?? I only had a few glasses ( and I've had stronger liquor) and I was gone....
