Hey All
A while ago, I remember seeing a thread that dealt with the whole issue of child medication that was illustrated with some fan art of Calvin taking some sort of medication which ended with Calvin only seeing Hobbes as a stuffed animal.
I would have put this there, but I'm not in the mood to do thread diving. Instead, I'm just going to post a link to a Robot Chicken sketch that involved CALVIN AND HOBBES. Maybe Calvin should be on the meds. This is one of my favorite sketches of theirs in that they take a part of my childhood and completely screw it up.
To me, the only detail that's wrong is the vehicle they used to go to Mars. Bill Watterson would have considered a trash can too high tech. A wagon was all they needed to get to Mars in the strip. But everything else is just perfect.
And this is another favorite of mine in that it finally shows something I've always wanted to see. The piss taken completely out of ET. Unlike everyone else in my generation, I hated that movie as a kid. ET scared the crap out of me. So to see that happen to him at the end of that sketch brings a smile to my face.
3rd season of ROBOT CHICKEN starts tonight.

Hello reginaroadie:
I grew up on Calvin and Hobbs. Of course I was 35 years old at the time. But better late than never.
Anyone else out there love Calvin and Hobbs?
Come on. We know your out there.

I've been a drooling addict since I was about eight. Of course, just my luck, the strip ended right around the time I started reading. I remember screaming in horror when I heard it on the news.

Hello deepgirl187:
When my family heard of my addiction they started buying me Watterson's collective works. I actually have two copies of "The Essential Calvin and Hobbs". I did not have the heart to tell them I already had a copy.
One of the things I am beginning to appreciate about this fansite is how we not only share Firefly, but also share these other moments in our lives. Someone seems to bring up some new topic that really hits home with me. I am just an old sentimentalist.
Go to your bookstore and seek out Bill Watterson.
I am sure these collections are still available.
I wiped my eyes when I heard he had stopped.
There is always something new. Like Firefly we are here to remember and work to bring it back. If not, there will be something new.
