This is it folks- the real deal! Go BUY this one NOW! If you have even the slightest fondness for the live-action flicks, you'll love this movie- it was crafted with care and respect for the source material.
Plus: Sarah Michelle Gellar does the voice of April!

I can't even think of a better animated movie...
This was definitely my favourite of all time!!!!
Even better than Iron Giant IMO!

I thought the movie was AWESOME in the theater, and I bought the DVD last night. I love that whoever was writing the story (not necessarily the script) said: You know, probably everybody in the last twenty years who would even dream of seeing this movie has at least a vague notion of who the Turtles are and where they come from... So let's NOT just retell the origin story. (Save for the brief narration by Lawrence Fishburn, which was cool.)

And then they capitalized on that. In the scene where they all attack the tower to get to Leo, they are plowing through hordes of foot ninja like they are barely even there, almost like they were dancing through them in a very carefree kind of way. For all of us lifelong fans (and for me, it really is lifelong; Mikey was the first action figure I ever owned, when I was three or four) it was a chance to sit up and say "Look how far our boys have come. They're not struggling with mousers anymore, they are masters of their art."

I also thought it showed great grit (staying true, as was said, to the original dark feel of the comics, which is the true brilliance of the Turtles, that ridiculous meets humorous, but then the story is dark) to have the conflict between Raph and Leo finally come to a full-blown, steel-on-steel fight. I will say this though, the franchise overlords will be smart if they now leave that plot line alone from now on. It's been played to the hilt, and now that we have this ultimate climax of the conflict between them with actual physical combat, there's not much else place to take it. Leo and Raph don't have to suddenly agree on everything now, but that rivalry needs to be considered resolved as far as any major conflict, if they ever make another one. One of Karai's comments hints at a sequel, and I hope they do it.
