Invading My Space With Your Foul Mouthed Banality

That's another widget some of our resident geekers I deal with have worked on, but due to the uncertain legalities, have left off continued R&D.
Not to say certain folk don't have em, mind you, just mass production and sale would probably run up to some legal issues.
Imagine this...
Cellphone jerk : "WELL THEN HE SAID..."etc etc
And you sidle up real close, like within 5-12 feet in subtle fashion, reach into your pocket and *click*
Cellphone jerk : "HELLO ? HELLO ?"
STUPID %@$ PHONE...
Lather, Rinse, repeat as needful.
Now me, call me a luddite about it if you will, but the last cell type I actually had was job related, and it was technically a CAR phone and about the size of a lunchbox.
I hate pagers, and cellphones even worse, why hand people yet another way to annoy me ?
Especially with cell phone companies selling the number lists to dataminers, and then those scum sellin em to every slimy fly-by-night telemarketer in town who uses the do-not-call list as a set of "verified" active numbers, grr.
Not to mention the privacy issues of an open mike and/or GPS, not just from feddie wackjobs, but any joe haxor type who wants to be funny, or even random crazies or stalker ex's...
I carry one for real emergencies, but unless one crops up, the battery is in one pocket, and the phone in another - whatever they want, it can damnwell wait till I get around to it.
Why put YOUR life at some electronic devices convenience ?

It cannot be said enough, those who do not learn from history, are doomed to endlessly repeat it

The ones that annoy me are people with Bluetooth... they may be talking to you one moment, all of a sudden they don't seem to make sense and then they turn their head and you see the earpiece and they are actually talking to someone else.

Our I.T. guy at the office, who's my buddy, told me recently he can get me a device that will disable all cell phones around me out to a good-sized perimeter for a few hundred bucks. I am so there, as soon as I sock away the scratch.

They are known as the Ear People, a human mutant strain that causes audio-physical growths and goiters of the ear. The CDC in Atlanta has not yet recognized them as a health risk to the general population, but it's only a matter of time before Senator Leahy requests a Special Prosecutor to trace the origins, and subpeona all original documents and links to a possible extra-terrestrial microbe being slowly introduced to human beings, the mutant photo-electric, organic parasites will ultimately all link together and create 5 billion mind-controlled slaves for humanity's future masters.... Or maybe some day these alien devices will provide all humanity with the ultimate form of all knowledge, far surpassing anything previously understood as Einsteinian limitations, the mind-boggling capability to actually inject liquid Wikipedia information directly into the hypocampus memory center of the human brain.

Or maybe they're from an alternative reality... it would be really worrying if they start wearing a second earpiece... then the two get joined together with a sort of squarish shaped connection over the head... before long there is the clank of thousands of metal feet marching down the street...

On the lighter side, quoting Book from Our Mrs. Reynolds...
Book: If you are going to take sexual advantage of her, you will burn at the special level of hell. The level that they reserve for child molesters and people who talk "loudly on the cell-phone"!
I have decided to honk seriously hard if I see any driver in front of me on the cell-phone.

On a side note, I wonder why we call them "mobile phones" here in the UK. It suggests that they can move around under their own power. Cellphone is more correct since they are based on cellular radio technology.

Quote:Mobile means something can be moved, not necessarilly that it can move under it's own volition. The term mobile phone denotes that it is a phone that can be used 'on the move'.

More insane ramblings by the people who brought you beeeer milkshakes!
No one can see their reflection in running water. It is only in still water that we can see.

BT already had a mobile phone service before cellphones using so called "radio telephones" installed in vehicles. When cellular technology came along folks already knew what a mobile phone was and did, only techies knew about cellular systems.

While we're on the topic of such annoyances...
Our local evil megastore (meijers) has taken to putting miniature televisions in the freaking register line, via some form of contract with ABC, hawking thier unwanted crap at a "captive" audience and invading "my space" in an annoying and unwanted fashion.
Although probably in the minority about it, I find this genuininely offensive, to the point of reflexive blacklisting - I had just picked up a candy bar from the handy shelf there and the damn thing starts trying a sales push for such things, to which I responded by simply putting it back.
Way to lose a sale, morons.
