Hi!

In honor of the DVD release and the Atlanta Shindig, I made a Firefly Music Video... to the tune of "I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow" from the "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" soundtrack.

It's very shiny and I would appreciate feedback. ^_^

It's located at

http://www.geocities.com/buckthorn_42/ffmv.html

... and it's not actually hosted at Geocities so no bandwidth worries, I'm just using Geocities as a counter.

Hope you like it!!

~Brian

That was really fun. Your literal interpretation of some of the lines was cute and your cuts were all very well timed. The post-credit coda made it really great.

Very shiny. I wanted Mal to turn to the camera and say, "We're in a tight spot!"

This really kicked A**! I love this song,
and I was impressed how you made just about every part of the song match something about Mal's life.

You got a great eye for vid making. Make another. Please.

Thanks!!! *warm fuzzies*

I am planning on re-working a bit of it... I can think of three scenes I wanted to change. They were mostly last-minute additions when I realized that the scene I wanted to use was too short or I just didn't know what to use in a certain spot yet.

My biggest gripe with it is the slowed-down Serenity wake at the very end... it doesn't flow well with the rest of the video so I need to find a longer shot of the same thing. A couple of other nits, but I was happy with how it turned out seeing as how it really only took 4 hours to make (although much longer in terms of mental creativity with trying to match scenes to lyrics.. I was about halfway there when the release date/Shindig snuck up on me) :)

But again, thanks to you both!

I would love to be able to see this, is there a way for you to put it up in another file format, like a .avi or mpeg?

Very nice job. I love that song. My only question is what the title card at the end reads. The text is extremely hard to make out unfortunately.

I can give a shot at re-rendering it. My only worry is the size... the SVCD I made for the Shindig was 50 megs. But I can make a run at it and see what I get.

Sorry, it's the whole "reaching the widest possible audience" thing that keeps Microsoft stock price going up. :)

Yeah, I know... I have a tag on my webpage that reads, "This website best viewed by coming over to my office and looking at it on my monitor." I guess contrast would be preferable.

Basically it just says what the song is, where the images came from ("Firefly"), my website, and what I used to create the video. Nothing spectacular, but probably something I should give attention to.

I took it upon myself to convert this to an .avi format. It's 13 megs... and all it needs is buckthorn's permission to be distributed.

Absolutely. Kick it out there and let me know where it is so I can link to it (like I said with the Geocities thing, I've been trying to keep track... an anal-retentive thing that I know will pass :) ). But yeah if you want to post it somewhere and link to it just let me know so I can put it out the link too. Otherwise if you can put it somewhere temporarily I can download it and host it myself.

But regardless... "Permission granted."
