Number 48? Not bad, not bad. A couple of entries on the list baffled me, but I'm just glad our BDM was in the top 50%. So, yay Universal. And F*X.

I agree, I am glad it's on the list but some of them on this list aren't even SF, like Young Frankenstein. A funny movie for sure, but not in my definition SF. THere are some real classics that missed the ist as well. Maybe we should start our own top 100 list?

Well, if there is one film on that list that deserves to be higher than it is, it's clearly THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL. That is definitly in the top 10 sci-fi ever list. That, 2001, PLANET OF THE APES, METROPOLIS, STAR WARS and (even though I'm not a big fan personally) BLADE RUNNER are top ten stuff. Everyhting else is debatabable, although I think A.I. should be a lot higher than BILL AND TED'S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE. And E.T. as the #1 movie? Yeah fuckin right.

If Bill and Ted Etc. had ranked higher than Serenity, I would have had some choice and colorful language in store for Rotten Tomatoes. I'm not sure how THX-1138 and Mad Max ranked higher, but I guess we have to consider the timeline.

And did anyone else see Children of Men? I was impressed and depressed, though I'm not sure if it really qualifies as Sci-Fi.

I will certainly defend THX-1138 on this list. It was George Lucas's first real movie and given the nothing budget he had to work with, he ended up making a pretty profound statement.

Mad Max, if you can get the version that isn't dubbed, (they didn't think an Austrailian accent would sell for some reason), is probably the top post holocaust film again given there that was no budget and the star at that time was a complete unknown.

For 9. how about Galaxy Quest? It's funny and good SF at the same time. Very hard to do.
