Ah yes, the joys of flash flooding.

Having torrential (and I do mean torrential) downpours smack bang in the middle of a drought is apparently a bad thing.

I live about 2 hours north of Sydney on the Central Coast, and by the end of the second day over 46,000 homes were without power. Keep in mind that that's about 1/5 of the population. It went for about 4 days. Entire suburbs are underwater and boat is a great way to get around.
My poor friend's backyard backs onto a lake. Now the lake is his backyard.

Just driving around, you see glass everywhere, fallen trees, powerpoles with no lines attached, people living in cars, boats attached to garbage bins (no joke). Half the roads are blocked off due to damage or flooding.
Hell, my Uni had to be evacuated! With fire alarms and everything.

And there'll be no power restored until Thursday!

Luckily, I live on the edge of a power grid that still has power. Unfortunately, every one of my friends is incommunicado because there's little to no cell phone service either.

I really should take some pictures, it's quite sobering really.

Now because this is a picture thread...

*edit* I was reading a bit about OZ earlier this week, BTF. Sounds like quite a delicate environment down there, with lots of potential for upset. Does not sound like a fun time, that flood.
