Occasionally I like to reread this, because I'm always emailing the link to people I'm trying to convert...

DVD Verdict Review - Firefly: The Complete Series

Really gets me back in the spirit when I'm starting to feel "burned out".

Thank you, Pengy-one *pats P's feathered head
and looks through her pockets for fish but finds
only strawberries*
Here, the both of you, have this big bowl of
berries, and here *bringing it out with a flourish*
is a dish of whipped cream for dipping.
Still nice and cool.

Yep, that's our Penguin and not an impostor...

More good reviews, anyone?

I'm partial to the "Serenity Now" review from J.Scott Wilson. He writes for Internet Broadcasting Systems but his column is syndicated to news outlets all over the country. I found this link to a website in Hawaii.
Incidentally, he's also the MC for our Can't Stop the Serenity screening here in Charlotte this year. So of course I'm biased.

But I like the other reviews posted in this thread too. I am sending a box set to a Marine down at Parris Island. I think I'll e-mail those reviews to him first.

ETA: He even mentions one of Penguin's cousins -- he's gotta be a good guy, right?

About Capt. Mal:
"He wears his mantle of authority at an angle..."

Heh. The magic of the slanty gunbelt is nigh-on
irresistible. (And we know the "mantle" reference
is a disguise...)

'Nother nice review.

And yes, it has a Penguin in it!

There's also Orson Scott Card's review of the BDM:

http://www.hatrack.com/osc/reviews/everything/2005-10-02.shtml

(Starts about halfway down the page)

Best quote from the review:

Quote:

I'm not going to say it's the best science fiction movie, ever.

Oh, wait. Yes I am.

Card is a well-regarded S/F author, best known for his book Enders Game and the Alvin Maker fantasy series.

I'm pointin' right at it!
