F*x, you listening???? BSG has been given 22 instead of 13 episodes for the new season, starting early 2008, PLUS, there's going to be a DVD movie in the latter part of this year.
One of the best TV shows, ever, of any channel, of any genre.

I'm very glad to hear that scifi is putting more confidence in the show, however, I can't believe I'm going to have to wait almost a year between season 3 and 4! Why are they waiting so long????

The two hour event sounds cool but if it deals with Pegasus and not the actual BSG characters then I'm not sure how good that'll be. I mean, I've always been interested in seeing if maybe another small fleet escaped or tried to and failed and the "Caprica" prequel series sounded interesting, but Pegasus? What is there to know? They escaped, they killed and abandoned civies to survive, they tried to fight.

Not completely sure about this move...

I don't think it's that big a deal. BSG had only thirteen episodes in the first season alone. Seasons 2 and 3 both have 20 eps. They're just giving them two more, plus the Pegasus tv movie (assuming that's what it is), the direct to DVD film and the spin-off series.

So there will be no shortage of GALACTICA. I never got the sense that SCI-FI was screwing Ron D. Moore over.

Of course, none of this still makes up for the hypothetical random, arbitrary killing off of Starbuck. This last ep really needs to go into overtime to placate the "fuck you" to fans from two weeks ago.

Great. Since Moore and co. only want to make 13 episodes per season, that means we'll be getting 9 filler episodes, which means there'll be nine times when the message boards will be flooded with threads and posts such as "BSG past its prime!!!!", "BSG jumped the shark!!!!", "I'm done with BSG!!!!", "What the frak is wrong with BSG!?!?!?!", "Why can't it be more like season 1!?!?!?", etc.

But other than that (hearing idiotic, brain-dead fans bitch about it to no end), I'm looking forward to so much more BSG goodness.

I believe it has been announced that BSG is confirmed as having only one more year left. I really hope that that is true, and that it will give them the focus they need to make sure this last season is great!

I recently read a rumor which could make things even worse. Not only will we be waiting until 2008 for the new season but apparently Sci-Fi is planning on splitting the season even more drastically than in past years. The first half to air early in 2008 and the second half...wait for it...not until 2009?!

I'm beginning to question the wisdom of the execs over there with all the cancellations and how they are choosing to fill air time. Do they really think dragging out the final season over two years is going to help their ratings?
