Grits is/are a breakfast food that comes from the southern states of the USA. I'm not the best person to elaborate on them, so I'll leave it at that and let someone who knows more tell you the details.

Coarsely ground corn, (hominy grits are white corn, used to be soaked in lye first but I'm not sure if that's still done, which is then cooked until gloopy and relatively smooth. It coalesces into a solid mass if left to cool (as does oatmeal and polenta).
I like mine with cheese or with salt, pepper, and bacon.
I have heard of people putting sweetener into it instead (maple, molasses, sugar..) but have been advised that this is heresy, a gross abuse of the food substance, and pretty close to grounds for criminal prosecution in some areas.

Instant grits are available in most grocery stores, even in the north, but are just not the same...

Over here we pretend to drink and do other bar-like activities (plus our nifty smoking room). Not a whole lot of heavy pondering goes on here, just light chatter.

Wow. No drinkers around today. Everyone still recovering from their weekend?

I had a bit of Jameson this weekend with my friend Harley as a sort of preparation for the coming weekend.

A toast? Here goes.

Here's to the girl in the little red shoes, she drinks my whiskey, she drinks my booze. She's got no cherry, but that's no sin, she still has the box the cherry came in.
