fanfic/fanart partnerships

I just started posting one of my old fics elsewhere, and noticed how some people on that site have pretty pictures to head their fics. So, I started thinking - wouldn't it be cool if I had something like that?

Now, I'm unskilled with the photoshopping and drawing, but I know many folks here are way skilled and looking for things to do. So... I was hoping that someone has read the Fish Job and would want to make a story-header-banner type thing for me. Something with Mal and obviously a fish or two. And maybe - if I get really lucky - a free-hand type artist would be willing to do a few illustrations of key scenes...

(BTW, I remember a certain AMAZING artist offering to do fic illustrations *cough*mphillips*cough*cough* but I never heard more and was too shy to ask in detail...)

And hey - if other writers/artists want to do the same kind of thing, let's use this thread as a kind of personals to meet up. Whaddya'all think?

Trust me, if I had access to a Fic-artist, I'd have him/her draw my crew, first. Much as I like having them in my head, I'd like to be able to point to a picture and say "That's what I was talking about."

That, and I have a few moments I'd like shown. Alas, though, artists don't seem to do non-BDH related artwork.

I'm talking BDH's here! For exmaple - I have a scene where River's hanging sideways from the ladder to Mal's bunk and he's sitting on his bed - I think that could be a great illustration, but nothing like it happened in the movie or series so it must be drawn, not clipped together. (Unless you're really really good...)

Oh - but do mean that you do non-BDH fics? Sorry - I read too fast and missed that.

That would be so useful! If only an artist was interested - to give the reader a picture of your characters. I believe the Virtual Firefly project has done that with their OCs. Go them!
