Great work on the fic ! I really liked how love was such an obstacle for River.It makes perfect sense.And you got the emotions down very well.
And here's what I really want to know- is the term "mate" usable for both men & women ? I had the impression somehow that it's for men, like dude.I am very curious..

Well, I use it for anyone I consider a friend. And in my neck of the woods, a lot of folks use it for everyone, even if you've never met who you're speaking to before in your life. I use 'Mate' (and 'Dude', too), for all my friends, male or female, but that's just me!
