I'll be the merc! No problem! I even have the goatee! I don't own any Hawaiian shirts anymore, my wife got rid of them, but I do own a fedora that I wear on occasion. How mercenary is that?

Fox sucks! Viva Firefly!

I'm a full-time web designer for a corporation, and I have a sideline as a freelance journalist.

I'm a career (read 21 years) Public Defender as in "What am I your advocate?" (Simon to Early in Objects in Space). Some people would say that makes me a whore and I play the Companion in Archer's Serenity Inc, pastiche. But like Mal about Inara, they would be wrong.

I'm a disaffected college student, which means I have no job.

And I'm an English major, which means I'll never have a job.

I'm an electronics tech on an atom smasher, Stanford Linear Acclerator Center. We make our own anti-matter (positrons) but they never let me take any home.

Before this job, I was Reactor Operator on two nuclear submarines, USS George Bancroft, and USS Flasher. It was a recruiting video starring William Shatner that got me into the Navy Nuclear Power program. (Hey, I was 17 at the time, youthful indescretion)

I drive a cab - in detroit, no less.. fun fun fun.

As a consequence on not wanting to sell my soul to any specific company, I outright own and posess all necessary permits and licenses in my own name, thus allowing me to work for any company, any day, any time (I do percentage, never lease.)

Guess that'd make me the cabbie version of a merc, since with a few exceptions, I take the highest bidder when more than one of em has an empty cab.

Also happen to be a right handy small engine/appliance mechanic when I ain't pushin a cab.
