I love this! I wish there were grammar police (outside my head, I mean).

I concur; perhaps we can form a FFF.net Grammar Police squad?

Well, I wouldn't want to actually go around pointing out every little lapse. How obnoxious would that be? I think PhoenixRose has the right idea: offering a general guide for anyone who's interested in furthering their knowledge in that area.

That's a good idea. People always leaving corrective posts would get annoying, but a grammar thread of some sort would be cool. Nothin' worse than having to read a grammatically insane post.

Yeah, it's like listening to someone who can't quite speak your language. You might get the general idea, but it's an awful lot of work.

Except that if you're going to offer a guide, you better not make any mistakes of your own.

I, personally, would rather just read the drivel and not have to subject my own writing to scrutiny. But I'm a big chicken like that.

True, nobody's perfect. I do think that if people want to write, they owe it to their readers to make an effort to be as clear as possible. Written language is LANGUAGE. If you don't follow the rules, you risk being misunderstood.

No one would be under scrutiny, at least not any more than they are now. People would just be able to go check out the thread if they feel they could use the help.

As for mistakes in the help thread, well... they can be fixed when someone notices
